considering an app here but I'd like to know: how easy is it to get CR if you're playing an OC?

As with most characters (anyone not from a popular fandom), I'd say it's a matter of how much you tag out. The game's big enough that most people have established CR, so putting up starters and hoping people hit you up won't always work out. That said, there are a lot of friendly people in the game who'll bounce tags until forever, and half the mods play OCs. I wouldn't say there's much bias.

As someone who used to play an oc there, it was very hit or miss. I had some successful threads in my time and some unsuccessful threads where I was ignored/flaked on for established cr. The oldbies seemed a lot more insular and closed off so I would suggest focusing on newer players for meaningful cr.

get ready to put in the time. you can make it work if you're willing to tag out and be fast and consistent, but accept that there are a lot of people in game who just aren't going to care.

As a player here, I wanted to say that I'm always interested in playing with OCs, so long as there's enough information in their journal that I can actually get an idea of what I'm getting into! I've passed up playing with a lot of OCs on memes and stuff because for some reason people just don't have any information about them available, which seems completely stupid to me, because then potential CR has no way to get to know them at all or determine if their character is someone they'd click with.
