Opposite of the other anon, I like a confirmation message. The one person who didn't send me one just made secret accounts and kept trying to tag me. A message tells me you get it.

Also it covers up your tracks both as the recipient and the sender. If you confirm, it shows you got the message and the sender can't say you didn't then try to pull something on you.

jfc @ all the wilting lilies above this reply who apparently sh-sh-shake and cry at a simple confirmation. telling me you got the message lets me know you won't pretend you didn't see it later, if nothing else.

idk, my first instinct would to send them a polite confirmation saying i understood and would try to avoid them, and that if i accidentally reply to something they posted to let me know

but if they included they "ever" i probably wouldn't

nope. if they sent it through a proxy, i'd confirm with that proxy that yeah, i got it, but if they contacted me directly, i'd just completely avoid them.

don't try to grovel or negotiate or ask why or get butthurt, just politely say you understand their wishes and will respect them in the future with a reply like ayrt and then leave them alone

harassing abusive douchebags will use tactics like try to negotiate or ask for an explanation as an excuse to keep contact going when faced with a direct 'leave me alone' message, so don't do that even if you're confused and unsure of what you might have done wrong or are bad at reading social cues or whatever

I would register that I got the message in a short and polite way.

I mean, if that really is the straw that breaks their back and they go to anyone they threatened to, how fucking ludicrous are they going to look when they send their caps? If anyone comes to me I can easily think of several reasons I would have responded, not least of all because acknowledging you will do as you're asked is not some kind of 'gotcha' last word. It's pretty necessary in that kind of exchange, and it's for their own peace of mind.
