considering you've admitted that you don't know star wars you really shouldn't be talking about lore purity.

fyi, they speak english in the movies because they're american movies and back when the original trilogy came out, george lucas wasn't going to be able to make a movie that was subtitled with actors speaking some made up language. he wasn't peter jackson with the lotr budget.

that was a different anon. i actually know star wars to some extent.

even if george lucas did have a lotr budget for the original trilogy, the main language of the universe would still have been in english because the alien languages used in star wars are essentially gibberish. but even a quick google search shows that the gibberish alien languages are still based off real languages for how they sound, like quechuan, haya, and tibetan. so a spanish-sounding language in the star wars universe is not an impossibility.

a language that sounds like another doesn't mean that they're similar or use the same words. cassian should not be able to speak with sombra or any of the other spanish speaking characters in spanish. they come from earth. they speak spanish. cassian does not. however you want to try to excuse it, the languages aren't the same and him speaking it isn't canon. so either she's doing it for representation points, to shove her way into cr with spanish speaking characters, or because she has no ic/ooc divide and is trying to practice the spanish that she's taking in real life with a character who doesn't speak it.
