what's the medium divide like here

depends, really. if you're friends with the popular clique(s) in the game, you'll be fine. if you're playing a popular la guy, you'll be fine. anyone else it's a mixed bag. anime seems to tag out least to other mediums but ymmv. for a game as large as this is, you'd think there'd be less of a medium divide.

as an anime i've stopped tagging out to established las because of how frequently i've been thread-dropped by them. i've had better luck hitting up newer players though.

this is pretty much me, after getting ignored so much you eventually just stop bothering

I'd argue that there's more of a cast divide than a medium divide. above anon is right, that if you play live action you'll most likely get tags (mostly because a lot of our live actions only seem to TAG live actions), but no matter what cast in whatever medium, it's usually a struggle to get lasting cross-canon cr with a cast that's got more than 3-4 people.

what's up with the amount of people who have trouble understanding the ac requirements in this game?

what happened?

nothing major, it's just that we had a lot of people this ac round who tried to submit threads from the same post or only submitted one proof etc. etc.

a lot of those were also new players, so i wouldn't really hold it against them

random drive by comment here, but mom had the most pain in the ass ac of any game i can remember playing in

You need eight comments in a network post, or three comments in a log post. Two examples. That's...that's it.

yes. the number wasn't the problem. it was the no npcs/no combining threads/no linking more than one thread from the same post/whatever else that annoyed the fuck out of me

so what you're saying is you can't manage to tag two different things regularly in the span of a month

nope, i tagged out a ton. but sometimes it was a real chore when tag backs were slow as fuck, especially if everyone was boomeranging event threads. which i also had a ton of, but whoops can't link two threads from the same post. or when catch alls were a thing that started gaining popularity. or when you found a niche but you don't want to get a swat on the back of the hand because you keep tagging the same small handful of reliable people

i'm not saying the number of comments was hard. just that the red tape was annoying and i don't miss it

it's easy to get around this rule by not doing catch-alls. just put two different logs in the log comm (with reliable taggers) and it's fine.

what grinds my gears is that the mod-made game-wide event logs and swear-ins fall under this stupid rule too.

when the whole game's encouraged to tag into the thing or the swear-in comes along and current players are being encouraged to tag the newbies, the "only one thread per post for ac" rule is counterproductive. i'd love to tag a bunch of top levels, but when only one of those threads can be used for ac and i'm fighting to get the second thread with the plethora of slow as balls/flaky players elsewhere, it's discouraging.

maybe it would be different if it wasn't such a struggle with the flakes or the cliquey people who drop you two tags into a thread because you aren't their buddy, castmate, or medium, but it is a struggle and it makes the rule a deterrent for tagging.

I can tag half a dozen posts, and try to tag back at least every other day, and I have still almost failed ac a couple times because people will tag too slow for me to use any of the threads for activity. It's pretty frustrating.

what's the game like? asking as a prospective new player.

the pace, the events, etc

the pacing is weird IMO. sometimes there's nothing going on for a long time, then there's a bunch of events all in one month. it's not a good game to be a slow tagger in. it's not impossible to keep up with but there are some blink and you'll miss it things.

backtags don't count towards AC so you'd do best here if you can keep current and finish threads up easily. like the people above said, AC is easy but it's very strict. if your last tag comes in at 12:01, you've failed. that said, the requirements are easy and most players make it within the first week of the month.

the big bad characters have a lot of fun being bad and the most fun events are all typically calendar man causing trouble.

most LA players will only tag other LA characters, but that's not true of everyone.

overall, I've had a lot of fun here and I'd recommend it.

out of curiosity, are there games out there where backtags do count for ac?

mine allows it but only if the main post was made in the previous month. any further back than that and it doesn't count

what sorts of events does it have/what's the tone of the game?

Generally upbeat and a little silly, but most of them tend to involve some level of action. There's always a level of options though; some very serious characters get very involved both in the metaplot and the workings of the cities (there are evenambassadors !) while other characters choose to lead less-heroic lives.

The attitude of the game is really nice though!
