that's good of you though anon. sometimes when I want CR but have no idea how to approach it I'll just throw stuff out there like "hey would your character ever be around this area" or "would they be a customer at x" and see if they bite and meet you halfway

you should say something like that! in other AU games I've had some great cr responding to things like "hey here's my character, they're [insert stuff here], they should interact but I need more ideas to springboard"

the other person might have ideas, but not know you're interested if you're on the meme, or if you're a current player, not have a way to talk to you

I hope some newcomers bring more than just "I'm a celebrity" or "I'm a high school student". The setting is really cool and can house some interesting ideas but people are kind of being stale in this AU workshop.

i'm not in the game (yet), but what kind of roles would you suggest? unless i'm missing something, it's ultimately a city setting, right? how would you better utilize it?

Adding "teacher/professor" to the list. I do get the appeal of these options though... Since there are already so many characters in game that have gone that rout, they offer a lot of easy CR opportunities. Who doesn't like easy CR?

• Business owners of niche varieties. Like the Jack Skellington for instance. Thinking more if people make food trucks, noodle carts, just started a business in general etc.
• Part time jobs like clothing store workers or fast food workers who are trying to get a diff job.
• Volunteers! Animal shelter, nursing home, daycares etc.
• Would love to see people start low or midway and work towards a promotion like a politician running for a non-mayor role. I think that would be fun to see IC elections be it as a legitimate politician or as a student run thing for class chairman etc.
• People that work at the pier.

The settings are all super useful too!

I think this will probably change as the game moves forward.

Right now people are still feeling out how the game is actually going to work. How events will be structured long-term, how the setting will pan out, how much of it will be SOL verses things happening. In that instance, people are taking the safer bet because, even if you guess completely wrong on what happens next, if your character is involved with other students or knows some famous people, you are going to be set for some basic CR and long-term connections with people.

If you create an AU where your character is the head of city sanitation, and you're counting on meeting people because everyone needs their trash collected, and the next big event creates personal garbage disintegration units, then you suddenly are left with a clever au and nothing to do with it.

We'll have two months after this round for people to really get a feel for what things will be like in the future. I think you'll see some more spread-out AUs after that.

I wanted to have a minor criminal character, since I don't mind the "fines, stuck in jail and/or community service," but honestly it was the "AND you lose points!" thing that turned me off. It sounds unnecessary.

And since all the characters I'm best with have criminal/antagonist bents, I'm...not sure what to do with them.

I've had a lot of fun playing here so far. Everyone has been very friendly and does a good job at tagging around. It's especially fun if you're lucky enough to be online at the time the new posts go up. There's so much going on at once in those first few hours! Even if that dies down after a while, I'm going to enjoy it while I can. :)

As for favorite characters, Handsome Jack is great. I haven't gotten a chance to tag Keroro yet, but I enjoy reading his threads too.

I love the network so much, there's a lot of chances for creativity with this.

Off the top of my head:

Anya, Ardyn, Dave, Handsome Jack, Prompto, Ryoji and Souji are all pretty fun to thread with and consistent with tagging.

There's definitely more out there so don't be afraid to tag around. Everyone overall is good and very welcoming.

I've had great threads with a lot of people. Dave, eleanor, yukiko, souji, lupin, peridot, tougusa, kurt.

actually most of my threads. Some people are slower than others but I think I've only had two threads actually dropped early.
