I'll never say it unanon because who wants to get accused of being delusional or a soulbonder when you're not, but there are characters that inspire me to keep going.

I'm the anon who mentioned SAI's price. It was $70 when I bought it because of the exchange rate at the time, since the price is consistently the same but in yen.

I've picked up some of my best traits over the years by emulating fictional characters I admire. Don't see anything wrong with it. Stories are supposed to rouse emotions in us, make us think deeper and give us a different view on things as well as be entertaining. And fictional characters are easier to admire than human ones because humans will always have more opportunities to disappoint or turn out to not be what we first though.

i grew up in a shitty situation without any actual real life role models for me to look up to. i'm not surprised at all that i shifted towards looking up to fictional characters and wanting to be more like them, or try to adapt stronger personalities based on theirs. (clearly not wanting to be just like that fictional person, but using their personality as an inspiration of how i could try to be more secure in my own)

when I exercise I imagine my favorite sports anime characters doing it with me and encouraging me not to give up when it gets tough to keep going

HEYYYYYY. I've been craving RPing some survival horror crossover stuff lately, specifically from vidya canons.

I can offer an array of protags and some antags from the Resident Evil franchise, Silent Hill, and Outlast. I'm down for crossing over with other game canons too. Maybe even some LA movie/tv stuff depending.

Plot-wise I'm pretty cool with just about anything. Either two protags teaming up to escape some unspeakable horror, some cat and mouse shit or literally anything else. Gore is obv OK and on the table. Death and all that is plausible too but open to discussion. Shipping is even possible since I'll ship just about anything.

If you're interested, go ahead and fire me over a PM and we can discuss shit!

lol yeah i didnt even know sai wasnt free when i got it, because it was sent in a zip over skype by a friend of mine, until one day someone told me "sai isnt free" when i mistakenly recced it to someone who wanted free drawing programs. whoops

Who wants to make bets on whether or not Square Enix will remake or remaster the first Nier game (possibly with improved gameplay from Platinum) assuming Automata does well?

Personally, I think they might but only for Nier Replicant since that's the only version Japan cares about.

As with most characters (anyone not from a popular fandom), I'd say it's a matter of how much you tag out. The game's big enough that most people have established CR, so putting up starters and hoping people hit you up won't always work out. That said, there are a lot of friendly people in the game who'll bounce tags until forever, and half the mods play OCs. I wouldn't say there's much bias.

i actually get kinda irl mad at one of my favorite characters when i remember that he's cheated on his wife of like 40 years and fathered a kid he didn't meet til he was in high school

gotcha! That's interesting though, at the time I bought it, it was still around 5400-5700 yen/50ish USD and that was a while ago. What year did you buy it anon?

I pick up traits from the characters I rp. nothing major, but I might sway more towards word-choices they would use in conversation, develop a new interest in the subjects they're enthusiastic about, or end up buying clothes similar to what they might wear without really thinking about it. I've even dyed my hair before and then felt super lame when I shared the selfie and realized it matched the color of my muse's.

this feels like a fan-dumb sin because people assume you're soulbonding or getting unhealthily invested, but I honestly don't feel that's what i'm doing. I guess because the character's frequently on my mind (and I have to put myself in their shoes to deduce how they would think or react on a regular basis), I end up growing an appreciation for the same things they appreciate. or, at least the very minor things. (I play some real villainous assholes, but you know, so far I haven't gone and murdered anybody).

what makes this extra embarrassing: I do this even with my OCs. the idea that someone might think I'm writing self-inserts makes me cringe.
