i was planning on following a similar format for individual posts, but with subheadings for more specific things like the anon below you suggested. just trying to determine what i want those to be!

that's a good idea. first thing that came to mind for me was a subheading for individual fandoms. (i considered a section for games, but i'm not sure that'd actually help anyone. it's not like people can't just look at their game's taken list to see who's playing there.)

anyone have any other suggestions for post sections? and whether i should make a new post monthly or bimonthly?

yes and he went onto say that short hair would look silly. he isn't my friend anymore, not because of that one comment but for a number of reasons. main reason being he was just an asshole.

yup it happens with depressing regularity-- dudes who somehow think that the women in their lives give two shits about their opinion on hair, appearances, shaving, makeup, etc. i wouldn't necessarily read into it as him hiding some kind of interest in you (though it very well could be), a lot of dudes are just fuckin entitled and grew up with the impression that women should care about their opinion all the damn time.

example: my friend cut their hair, and the next day a much older male coworker got on their case about how long hair is so much prettier on women. ok. later they died their hair, buzzed half of it, and coworker would just Not Shut Up about how short hair is so unattractive on women. another friend had to deal with some asshole from HR "asking" for her opinion on various appearance related things and using that opportunity to tell her all about his preferences for women who shave in the right places, worship God, didn't dye their hair, etc.

and finally the most hilarious example, YET ANOTHER friend got asked out by some dude, just a jogger passing by her on a walk. she said no, she's got a girlfriend, and the guy looked shocked and said that "it was such a shame, because she's too pretty, and that's not very attractive."

i see that particular example a lot and i've even seen it on tumblr.

seatbelts aren't meant to keep you 100% safe, dipshits. they're meant to keep you from flying through the windshield or tumbling all throughout the car.

i remember seeing somebody on tumblr say "A SEATBELT ONCE CUT SOMEONE'S ENTIRE BREAST OFF!" which i doubt is actually true but, okay, would you rather fucking die or kill your fellow passengers?

i personally think games should take a backseat since we have enablemeplz for that already (and to make sure the code format doesn't get too cramped) but it's up to you!

and bimonthly sounds good. monthly sounds like it's far apart but it actually ends way to fast

Nope, he said "I don't like short hair on girls," after I said I wanted to cut it. The exact opposite of what you're saying.

Not only that, but my response to him was telling him it isn't manageable.

If this dude had said, "I think longer hair suits you," it'd at least be about me and my hair and the way it looks on me. Not about what he wants to see on me because that doesn't at all matter. He's not my boyfriend and even if he was, his desires for my hair don't really outweigh what is sensible for me, unless he wants to be the one to wash and style it daily.

i know it's a valid concern but the pros really outweigh the cons here.

srsly. for some reason i think some dudes tend to default to "that's not attractive to me" as some kind of.... idk, WINNING ARGUMENT about what a woman should do? i've also encountered it randomly in rl-- pumping gas, some guy sidles up to me in his car and asks me out. i say no thanks, and he tells me that "refusal isn't a very attractive quality in a woman." ??? ? ?? ?

another time, i'm at a party, talking about alternative fashion. some friend of a friend chimes in to say that he thinks [insert fashion] is kind of a turnoff for guys. i tell him "great, even better," he looks confused and says, "well, i don't think it looks very attractive."

cut it and you'll deter him, but be prepared for extra bitching at first. if you really wanna rub the salt in (and i recommend you do tbh but this could just be my own second-hand embarrassment talking) say something like "i'm not interested in guys that try to dictate my appearance" and laugh when the back-pedalling and denials start.
