are language headcanons really that big of a deal? we don't know anything about the planet Cassian is from.

it's not what you thought it was in execution, or it doesn't scratch the itch you thought it would, or the ooc atmosphere doesn't quite agree with you, etc. for whatever reason you're like uh oh... je regrette

would you drop immediately before you get too involved in the game despite all your previous hype, or give it a month or two just to see if it clicks after all?

eh. playing devil's advocate here since era doesn't exactly have a good track record, but couldn't the justification be that it's a stand-in for whatever language they actually speak on cassian's home planet? i mean, why are we willing to accept that biologically identical humans exist in entirely different galaxies and that those humans can have a spanish accent, but they can't have developed a spanish-esque language?

klingon is a fake language, spanish is not.

if basic is meant to be like english, who's to say there isn't a spanish-like language out there in the star wars universe as well?

i don't know dick about star wars but are those spoken by humans who are mysteriously identical to earth humans despite evolving in the entire opposite end of space

then maybe don't enter a discussion about whether it's canon or not if you don't know canon.

having a character with a spanish accent speaking spanish is barely a reach.

i just think it's stupid getting worked up about a language headcanon based on a real world language for a canon that has made up alien languages. it's barely virtue signalling.

i'm not saying it's canon you troglodyte i'm saying i can buy it as a stand-in for a hypothetical other language for a character that already has a spanish accent, in the same way that i'm pretty certain the other characters aren't supposed to be speaking in literal english, and in the same way that plenty other scifi/fantasy franchises mix real and fictional languages in settings that aren't earth

it's a canon that has nothing to do with earth but the common language is still english.

just admit that this is a tiny thing to get worked up over and not at all the same thing as changing a pb for a character in television canon.

you can have a specific character dynamic in mind ("i just really want to play tony stark/samus aran") or only the character you want to play with ("idk i want to play with a faye valentine").
