Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Honestly? Just tagging around people I've never tagged before. I try to hit up a variety of posts and characters, and this has been a pretty consistent problem with a lot of them. There are definitely people good at tagging back, because I haven't been kicked out yet, but it's more of a struggle than it should be.

I have a coworker that fakes sick a lot who recently had not one, but two grandparents die within a month of each other. She had to fly away to the funerals both time, but was self admittedly not anywhere near as close to the second grandparent as the first.

Still, she lost a family member so she was upset. But a fellow coworker decided she was being too over the top with her grief, and it was an act.

• Business owners of niche varieties. Like the Jack Skellington for instance. Thinking more if people make food trucks, noodle carts, just started a business in general etc.
• Part time jobs like clothing store workers or fast food workers who are trying to get a diff job.
• Volunteers! Animal shelter, nursing home, daycares etc.
• Would love to see people start low or midway and work towards a promotion like a politician running for a non-mayor role. I think that would be fun to see IC elections be it as a legitimate politician or as a student run thing for class chairman etc.
• People that work at the pier.

The settings are all super useful too!

drift fleet comes to mind. and i think there's something called the fleet too? i'm not big on space games though so i can't tell you much about how exploration-focused they are.

Have you looked into getting something that translates speech to text? I know some people with joint pain who use such a thing and say their tags instead of typing them and it works well.

the mods should've made the hints clearer/easier to get in order to open the split tunnels sooner because it's pretty obvious that split tunnels and the ice tunnels/downtown were intended to be opened up really quickly and it took a year. i'm not defending that. there's a major issue with the hints being completely impossible to get without nudging, tho I do think Mel's gotten better about nudging since the crit in december.

but idk what the solution is because if they randomly teleported people to new areas (as people suggested last time) i'd be pissed. i'm here to explore and solve puzzles, it's the game's unique/defining factor and the reason i apped versus any less mechanics-intense game. there's no point to the puzzles if they're unlocked for us.

so far i've tagged into three network posts this month and none of those threads are even close to ac length. this is what happens to me every month. i usually tag around 10 random posts a month and every time it's a struggle. my ac threads always come from the same people because they're the only ones who actually tag back.

no, it wouldn't. it would require some overhauling, but not rebuilding everything. would it take work? yes, but it would be worth it if the mods care about providing a good experience for more than just a handful of players at a time.

why can't the mods build something more into areas besides the new zone? yes, it's been made clear that we've discovered all the clues there, but why not add more if players are feeling disengaged? it's been a running theme that it's nigh impossible to get involved with the plot. that's been a problem for months. why not build in more to do in more places? more specifically, what was the point of the entrance, even? that led nowhere.

from where i'm standing, the issue isn't rebuilding so much as adding more if the current plot is too railroady to allow for flexibility.

i get that this is asking a lot, and i get that it won't be an easy fix. hell, maybe it can't be fixed at this point. i don't know, but that doesn't make the problems easier to ignore. i'm sad that i've been in this game for so long and my character(s) have accomplished nothing and not for lack of trying. on top of that, i've seen too many other players go through the same thing.

i guess that's what i get for joining a game with isolation at the core of its premise. icly, the isolation theme doesn't really land, but boy do i feel like i'm adrift in the ocean as a player.

I think this will probably change as the game moves forward.

Right now people are still feeling out how the game is actually going to work. How events will be structured long-term, how the setting will pan out, how much of it will be SOL verses things happening. In that instance, people are taking the safer bet because, even if you guess completely wrong on what happens next, if your character is involved with other students or knows some famous people, you are going to be set for some basic CR and long-term connections with people.

If you create an AU where your character is the head of city sanitation, and you're counting on meeting people because everyone needs their trash collected, and the next big event creates personal garbage disintegration units, then you suddenly are left with a clever au and nothing to do with it.

We'll have two months after this round for people to really get a feel for what things will be like in the future. I think you'll see some more spread-out AUs after that.
