Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

hey question from a possible applicant! i'm only asking here because it doesn't seem like the mods are replying to anything, but i was wondering how active this game is. i see activity, but there's a bunch of really old stuff on the reserves and when i checked some unreplied to apps, and mostly what makes me ask is the calendar being august (is this a mistake or has it not been updated since then?) and unanswered questions on the faq. i know the game moved but that was a while ago. should i look to app somewhere else or is this just a flub? i didn't seriously consider apping until a few days ago but looking at time stamps for questions and reserves doesn't really inspire a new player to app.

There's currently a bit of a shift going on in modship-- the mods have been really wrapped up in RL things and have basically been radio silent on... a lot of things. About a week ago they announced one mod stepping down and opened mod apps in order to hopefully bring some folks on to catch up with things and get back on track. As players, there's definitely been a noticeable lack of communication going on so while the game is happily chugging along with people doing their own thing, we're all hoping that this issue will be improved once some new people take over mod duties.

I'm one of the people who filled out an application, so fingers crossed!

There's definitely been a lack of mod activity and there has been for a while. They were pretty okay with the few event things we've had and they're good with apps.

Everything else has been a mess, which is discouraging to new players, no doubt. A lot of this game is make your own adventure People have charts and plans for what they're characters do from the day to day. So, mods overseeing things isn't terribly necessary. And since there's not a lot of modding to be done it would have been nice if basic mod duties had been taken care of.

We didn't get a heads up about no AC for last month. A quick plurk is not too much to ask. It's the bare minimum and they couldn't even do that.

I know now there is some mod shifting but there have been issues for a while. This isn't a recent thing with a sudden mod shift by any means.

On the positive side they are opening up apps and I hope these new people clean things up a bit because the game absolutely needs it. I'd like things to be done a little neater and cleaner from AC to pretty much everything. I hope the new mods do a good job :)

If you don't mind the disorganization (for now?) I'd really advise apping in. The game is a lot of fun and players take care of themselves for the most part.

i've got no problem with a game running itself, but having the most basic things taken care of like reserves, taken lists, an accessible/visible test drive, a clean faq, links that go the right places, calendars (if you have them) to be updated (or mod posts about events or whatever in a kinda timely manner), and maps/info that isn't sloppy (and maybe have links to what the places look like and what businesses are in the city, also i noticed a lot of locations are included on the pokemon availability page but not on the map?) are pretty basic.

i'll probably sit out then and hope it sorts itself out. it's too bad, route always seemed a great place for people new to rp or dw and really welcoming, but this is quite a mess. hope things work out for you guys.

As someone who's been in the game since LONG before this mod batch, I hope you'll keep an eye on us and consider joining once things get sorted out. It has always been and hopefully always WILL be a welcoming game to new players- it's one of the things I've always loved most about it and I've never hesitated to give it a glowing recommendation, especially since the players have all been carrying on and holding the game up pretty much on their own.

But you're completely right and I don't blame people for passing the game by with the state it's in. We're all pretty frustrated about the current situation. :(

There will be personal experience which might out me, but that's fine.

The game is beautiful and wonderful and honestly, I always found that I got pretty consistent responses. Some players are down to boomerang too, which is pretty great! The game also has a lot of self-managing, what with keeping track of your pokemon and your money, and keeping track of travel and badges.

A lot of the pages haven't been updated in forever, and in fact, mods haven't cleaned up the pages for a long, long time. Badges and apps were the most consistent things, and even the former was often a loooooong long wait. I wouldn't say the game is a flub, but I'd hold off on expecting anything from the mods in any kind of timely fashion at all until they hire on some new ones.

Personal example: The mods definitely never addressed my player concerns from around...August 2016, or again in December and January, at which point I just...gave up. Like I said, this outs me. At least to the mods. I'm prepared to deal with this. I think it's fair for the game to know.

I'm pretty sure I know who you are and let me just say, I'm SO disappointed that you were blown off. If I'm right, the issue you had was 100% worthy of bringing to the mods' attention and should NEVER have been ignored. It's one of the biggest reasons I'm happy that new modship will be happening, because even if it was just a matter of the mods not having time for the game, it's really a black mark on an otherwise relaxed and welcoming place.

???? was there wank in this game and i missed it? what happened

original anon w/problem

(Anonymous) 2017-02-08 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
sorry to be vague, anon, but even though I have beef I don't want to lay down the deets and cause a problem for the game, as I still like the people there. just not the mods for shafting me out of a game i wanted to be in for years, simply by turning a blind eye to my concerns long enough for me to leave. The players don't deserve to suffer a shitty labeling, because THEY'RE great.

i mostly just care about the mod-related problem being known to new/prospective players.

maybe it won't matter once new mods are taken on.

So it's been over a week since the original date that the mod applicants were supposed to be contacted. I know that they plurked they were behind, but what's the deal?

Unless literally everyone in the game filled out an app, it doesn't seem like this process should have taken this long. Especially since the whole reason they wanted such a small submission window in the first place was so that the new team would be in place to judge February apps.
