I've played in both ECATS games and real games and I wouldn't say LR is actually ECATS. The average tag is still 75-150 words and 3-5 sentences (in my experience, that's about average for normal games as well). The players that only give you some dialogue, an icon and maybe a line of action seem to be in the minority, and of those players I've always gotten good responses when I've asked them to give me a little more substance. For further context, there's not a single ECATS tag on the latest open mingle and all but two of the top levels on the mingle before that had multiple multi-paragraph prompts.

So if you're worried about tags having a total lack of substance then that won't really be an issue.

However, there's also a ton of people that boomerang in the game. Pretty much everyone backtags but it can be very easy to feel left behind, so it's somewhat ECATSy in the sense that if you fall off the radar for a few days you can come back to find out some crazy shit has gone down in your absence. There's no AC so you can take it at your own pace. I consider myself pretty slow (only one or two rounds of tags a day) and I've never felt left out or left behind, but I can definitely see why someone else would feel that way.

I think this comment is a really fair assessment of the game tbh.

Personally I feel I'm quite active so I don't feel like if I look away for a few days I'll fall behind but I have to say this is not an easy game to break into and I would categorize as a very ECATSy trait since it's a very particular brand of unwelcoming that I've experienced in two or three other games with ECATS overlaps in the past.

can you be more specific about what you mean by "a very particular brand of unwelcoming"? I haven't played in many games or been around dwrp as long as others have, so I guess I'm missing what's implicit about this ECATs wall. Personally speaking, I've never felt more free and at ease in a game than I have in LR, so I'm wondering what the root of the differences in experiences is.
