love ur lack of an ic/ooc divide

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

this is basically how i feel. i went in pessimistic and was pleasantly surprised.

still not happy about patrick warburton as lemony though. he's also better than i expected (who knew he could actually turn in a restrained performance?) but he's missing the bleak moroseness that makes lemony such a fun narrator, and it just didn't work imo. :( i still enjoyed the series but that was way more jarring to me than nph as olaf.

missing the bleak moroseness...i...

everytime he gets on screen it just keeps highlighting how depressing everything is.

also you must not remember a lot of his earlier stuff and even earlier family guy were he voices Joe in a restrained and sad way.

i'll give you that, i looked up his imdb and he's been in a lot of stuff i haven't seen so i guess i'm just remembering his ultra-hammy roles.

i don't get moroseness off of him though, he feels too...straight-laced maybe? it's hard to put into words, but it didn't feel like he was highlighting how depressing everything is to me. iirc there was an interview where they said they were going for a radio announcer feel from him and that made his performance make more sense, but i still was kind of rubbed the wrong way.

maybe it's just me though. bluuuh how dare they not portray this character exactly how i want etc.

Yeah, that's recent family guy, Emperor's new groove, and Bee Movies fault since those were his hammiest and what kinda pigeonholed him as that kind of actor.

See I disagree since Lemony was always a kinda...radio announcer esquse narrator. I don't know how to describe it but the way it was done made it fully feel like that he was protraying a morose man that would go off and derail an important plotpoint for pages because he wants to describe a salad.

but yeah I do get what you mean and it's valid.

I love Patrick as Lemony, I think he's perfect. The way he deadpans his way through scenes, no matter how tragic and/or suspenseful they are, is amazing to me.

i liked him over jude law, but idk, took me a bit to get into the style of his performance, i guess.

richard ayoade would've been the dream though.

Oh my god, nonny. Don't speak to me of what could have been. He would have been ideal.
