Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

dunno if i'd call it disappointment - i still had fun with it. but yeah it felt a lot like... a filler season? i believe someone in an interview called it "more like second half of season one" and i can kinda see it, all the info that was left out suddenly put in 13 episodes to move the pot along.

i'm pretty sure that was basically it, though--like they made a block of 26 eps ("season 1") that netflix split into 2 blocks of 13 episodes each. so it really was season 1 part 2.

which is stupid as hell because ok, sure, they didn't have many moments, but we didn't have any ships either. everyone can still ship whatever the hell they want, which is for me always the best thing a new installment of a canon can give you.

but i'm too positive for fandom, aren't I?

i liked seeing allura bond with a paladin, especially considering what was going on, it needed solving. but i admit part of me thought "this better not be the start of kallura". not because i like sheith or klance, i don't really have any ships in this fandom outside hunk/shay, but it's like... i know kallura is part of classic voltron, but i don't think it works with this version of them? idk.

just some random thoughts, though, not really being angry about it or anything. there hasn't been anything shippy in voltron so far.

Personally I don't know whether it "works for the two of them" or not because they barely interacted before this season and actually having them play off and develop with one another is the only way to show that. I'm just glad what interaction they did have was used to develop Allura's character.

But either way, ship or not, the Klance fandom shouldn't be going off the deep end over it.

The kallura moments were painful and obviously baiting though. I cringed when Keith caught her and then there was that moment when they twirled in space and held hands.

Not to say that should make anyone angry but the kallura was intentional.

That being said I wish they gave them meaningful conversations instead of trying to ship bait. The fact that they're both orphaned could have been common ground betweeen them for example.

i just aw that episode and if that was supposed to be baiting it was weak as shit, "twirling in space while holding hands" really mischaracterizes that scene when it's more "being blasted out of an airlock"

it's been part of his character since the very beginning.

Tbf keith and lance hardly acknowledged each other this season unless they were griping at each other. Which wouldn't be so bad if they showed that they got over disliking each other in the first season.

Keith hugged shiro before leaving - we could have had a team hug following shortly after or Keith fist bumping hunk and lance. A small detail like that could have gone a long way if you wanted to carry over their development from season 1.

a vindictive part of me just wants to see Keith hook up with a girl, any girl, and go endgame. Considering the utter sty those two ship groups have made of the fandom I'd be happy to sit on the sidelines with marshmallows and watch them both burn.
