i can't tell if it's because people are getting sick of sex games or scifi games or what, but our app rounds have been pretty sad lately. i'm really excited for the apps that we have so far, but only 4 apps is brutal. we lost more than that in the last ac sweep, and i knew a number of people dropping in the next month or so too. feels sad man.

Maybe it's just that Tanagura's plot has been dragged out for much longer than it feels like it should have been. Also the fact that a of "quality" players flocked to game after the demise of other sex games. A few people on my timeline have also been complaining about the pace of their fellow player's tags. It really doesn't instill confidence or interest in the game when all you hear is "people take forever to tag back/it's been hard to make ac/etc"

idk who the fuck they're tagging, i have zero trouble getting regular tags. unless they want straight boomeranging all the time

I don't have much trouble either, but I do admit the ones I get are on the slow side. Some of my friends also don't have characters that fit the preferences of many so they tend to be stuck with the molasses taggers because those are the ones who are open to tagging with them.

how slow is slow? like how many tags per period of time?

because the solution may be the old adage of "tag out to new/different people"

For *me* slow is one tag every 4 to 5 days, possibly a week. I know these couple months have been rough so I've been giving some leeway, but it doesn't look like it'll pick up soon and I'm losing my interest in the game. I could tag new people, and have, but I'm struggling with being able to find characters that both interest me and are active. I might drop considering a handful of the people I've been reaching out to that are outside my current CR circle have been dropping my threads. I probably just don't jive with the people currently in the game.

I've tried and like I've said the ones I've extended a hand to just don't seem interested in my character (or me, dropped threads never give you and idea which issue is the deal breaker). Which is totally fine! Everyone has their own unique tastes.

I guess I've also got to say there are some active people who don't interest *me* which limits my own pool (by choice) but then again I'm not so desperate for tags that I'll thread with someone just because they're quick without regard to whether our characters will actually click or not. It might just be time to move on to a different game, but I'll try sticking it out another month or two.

Because all this whining about app harvests sure looks welcoming.

The game has hit its peak. Not getting as much apps as we used to is a normal part of any game's cycle.

nah man i'm not whining, i'm being realistic. the game is on the decline. the interest in this game from those already in the game and those outside has waned significantly. not going to say it's dying, but i don't really see any renewal in said interest or big resurgence in the future

why the fuck does it need any of those? the game's still fun. for someone insisting you're not whining, you sure are carrying on about how the game not being as big and fast as it used to be is somehow terrible.

i think you might have a sore spot because you got pretty heated over the fact that i'm saying people shouldn't get their hopes up for more apps? it's just a fact. the game may still be fun for you, but i'm seeing a lot more people dropping and losing interest than there are people who are excited to be here

the game is on cruise control to the end of the road. i'm not sure i can say it's dying yet, there are still a lot of miles to put o the car, but it's shrinking and I don't think the game is going to have a sudden renaissance of life spring back into it anytime soon. the mod plot is supposedly ending this year so once that's done, the game will assuredly die even if mods say the game will be playable after that. we all know it's just not going to work out.

i dropped for a combination of reasons, most of them really just personal preference. i will preface this with saying tanagura was easily one of the BEST game experiences i've had in fucking years. it's a good game! the setting is awesome, the level of detail in everything is awesome, the plot is dynamic and multi-layered and interesting, the NPCs are unique and sexy, the player-base is always very communicative and i've been able to play out a HUGE variety of kinks in this game. if you're thinking of joining, absolutely do it.

as for my reasons...when the mods changed over last year the events became a lot more pre-programmed feeling. instead of my character making an impact, my character became background a background number to a pre-determined path of A) B) or C) with little wiggle room. the new mods, i've found, despite very open communication were much less inclined to flex a little creativity or improvise if a player prompted something. instead of rewarding whatever action was most in-character, what was instead rewarded was whether it fit inside a schedule and aligned with the NPC or mod agenda. even Mary's black market raids still didn't really fundamentally change anything from what i could see (other than serve as a great narrative for her and CR which is still awesome) it felt like it was not encouraged to color outside of the lines of sign up/vote for A) B) or C) anymore, if that makes sense.

i know, who joins a sex game for the plot? but tanagura's plot is really something. so for me, it just wasn't what i was looking for anymore. tanagura now runs like any other game out there. it's a mod plot! sign up for things! or don't because things are going to happen anyway! NPCs do stuff because of A) B) or C)'s numbers but actually interacting with them is a joke! it's become a lot more streamlined but lost a of that creative flexibility i enjoyed from the earlier mods. i think also it had a lot to do with the player base changing, and the majority of the current player base seems a lot less interested in engaging the plot in a deeper sense outside of a few veterans. maybe it's laziness, maybe it's timidness, maybe it's apathy, maybe it's the mod's presentation of it, maybe it's just the way the plot is legitimately going, who knows? (i know a lot of people are divided on how NPCs should operate in a game, so,) i know i didn't jive with it anymore, that's all.

but i think tanagura still has a unique place in the dwrp marketplace. sex games are still in the minority there are literally no other cyberpunk-y games out there right now. 2017 has only just begun and tanagura still has many months of life left in it. if you want quality kink and easy to communicate with players (some hit or miss with speed, and yeah, skewing younger ani-manga) with a background of cool plot and political intrigue? yeah this is your game. if you want to use that political intrigue to ramp up the dynamics in your cr, this definitely is your game, but you're going to have to put the work into it to reap the rewards. if you want a game that changes your character and make them grow, this is your game. if you want a game with all that but your character can also change the game and make it grow...those changes have already been set, imo.

I honestly think I'm going to end up dropping. As someone that's applied within the last 6 months I'm struggling with getting a groove in the game. All the plots feel like more like an information dump and I'm left feeling lost with what's going on half the time. I feel like this game is more for those that have been in it the last year or so.

the players are great ive had nothing but good experiences with them but i feel like the game itself is really hard to click into for the same reasons

It's not an easy game to jump into no, especially since there's no one place to go to for a timeline of the plot so far. The plot runs in arcs, but knowledge of previous arcs is pretty much necessary to understand what's going on. Like, I know Spark has come up in recent plot clues, but he's been dead and irrelevant for a while now in the eyes of newer players.

i was in the game for a year? and yeah that ties into the mod change and they run plot. it became an info dump. even though i had enough background knowledge to understand what was going on, it didn't really feel like you could do anything with all that information. this big political wheel is spinning with or without your character. its easy to get lost when a lot of things lose their relevance. like another anon pointed out, old plot clues would come up that weren't relevant (that i could tell?) and would add to that why does this matter? feeling. if you're going to bring up dead npcs, do something interesting with them? they are certainly very interesting from what i could figure out! or just keep them dead so it doesn't get overwhelming and confusing.

ig it doesn't really matter if you're there just to make your characters bump uglies, which tanagura is very very good for.
