ELUVIO

[personal profile] eluviomods 2016-12-28 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)

ELUVIO. Whatever you were doing seconds ago is gone. You're done. You're transported some place else in the blink of an eye. Around you medical equipment beeps, crew members rush to the various decompression chambers in the room. You're not alone, just one of many. Try as you might to get your questions answered, no one seems willing and can you just stand still because we need to scan your vitals. But don't worry, your questions will be answered soon enough...

Welcome to the ISC ELUVIO. Suit up, travelers. It's not going to be an easy ride.

☆☆☆

Eluvio is a panfandom science-fiction game centered on a group of starships moving through a galaxy. The mission, as far as characters understand it, is to locate a planet suitable for colonization. There are occasionally rumors that these starships may also be fleeing something, though evidence supporting this has not yet been found. The game is primarily character-driven, with heavy emphasis on exploration, adventure, and discovery. Due to the nature of the game, there will at times be some horror and survival elements.

OVERJOYED

[personal profile] thenine 2016-12-28 10:58 pm (UTC)(link)

Visions press into your dreams and waking world like splinters at first. Foreign words linger in whispers, beginning as unintelligible murmurs that no one else seems to hear. Faces that were intimate yesterday begin to seem distant, alien—or perhaps the reverse is true and you come to know these faces better than ever before, as if you’ve lived another life with them.

It’s not sudden, and it’s far from painless, but through the headaches and confusion, you begin to get the sense that you don’t belong here. That the soils of Leith never bore your first steps or that the walls of Westerley weren’t your first cage—and for some of you, it's true.

Your life, your memories, your very history — all of it has been taken from you and replaced with a pantomime. Some people will never find themselves again, living under a veil of neural illusion until they’ve exceeded their usefulness. Others are like empty shells, their minds scraped clean and left bare for later repurposing—but perhaps they’re truly the luckiest, for theirs is a simpler journey in a world trembling on the brink of war.

Those who must reconcile who they are with who they were must do so in a time of political collapse and upheaval, of revolution and bloodshed. Their minds will crumble in tandem with the world around them and often—too often—they will have to make a choice between collecting the pieces of yesterday or living to see tomorrow.

Overjoyed is a quasi-AU panfandom dystopian cyberpunk game based in the Killjoys universe. The game runs concurrent with season one, complete with an overarching plot full of politics, revolution, and all the murky areas in between. AU memory loss can be either temporary or permanent at player's discretion.

LETHEVALE - An AU Gothic Mystery

[personal profile] lethevale_mods 2016-12-30 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
Nestled in the forest, in the shadow of the Carpathian mountains and the mansion on the cliffs, is the little town of Lethevale - at first sight, a quaint place, if darkly suspicious of outsiders. It is to this town that you have come. Why? Perhaps you were hoping to find a job, or visit a relative. Perhaps you are running from something, or wandering without a purpose. Perhaps you just came off the road on the way to somewhere else. Either way, the town draws you in - and leaving may prove harder than you expected.

Whether you choose to investigate or to live in blissful ignorance, whether you wish to leave or are happy to stay, one thing is clear. Something very, very strange is going on in Lethevale. Something that spreads its roots much deeper than the town, deeper even than this world. And now, you’re a part of it.

The Low Reaches - A Pokemon horror/mystery

[personal profile] lowreaches 2016-12-30 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
The Low Reaches

The Low Reaches

Break's over, cupcake.

Your alarm grins it at you from your bedside table. You roll over, willing that monster away, but it's already made its way in. You feel those whens, whos, and whys squirming inside you. The worst kind of worms. They'll be gone in the morning, but now it's just you and them and they're churning you inside out.

That'd teach them. For sending you back to school. For stealing away this sweet summer bliss.

The disappearances might steal some of your thunder though. There'd be no televised funeral, no pile of flowers left at your bed or your parent's door. No charities or sick kid hospitals either. Nothing. So unfair. You'd just be another flower on the memorial to everyone but your friends, family, and this new thing curled up at your side.

You lift it up into the air. Your new Pokemon — the one you got on your birthday. The one you're not legally supposed to have but no one really cares about. It stares at you with sleepy eyes. It quiets the worms. Puts back some of the spine they chewed away. You roll back over, cradling your new favorite thing, and brave the clock again.

The worms didn't go away. They're butterflies now.

Welcome to the Belfry, kid.

✕ ✕ ✕

The Low Reaches is an Original Character Pokemon RPG. As a young trainer in the new frontier region of Sinjoh, you’re thrilled to finally start catching Pokemon — but it’s hard not to be nervous, too, what with you just starting the seventh grade at Blackbell Middle School. And that's not to mention all the strange disappearances...

Game begins 10/01/2017.

this sounds like a pretty interesting concept, but guys, that game description is kinda cringy. too prosaic for a game description, way too dramatic for a pokemon game description.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-30 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
especially for ocs that are in 7th grade

there were a few good pokemon oc games on lj that were more serious themed but weren't like this, this feels more ij edge

or deviant art

(Anonymous) 2016-12-30 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
you say that, but how long did that shitty grimdark post-apoc AU pokemon game last? there's clearly a market for it.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-30 08:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah I can't say that a description for a Pokemon game that repeatedly refers to you being metaphorically full of worms really strikes a relatable tone for this franchise. Phrases like that are pretty much the stuff of horror and deeply serious litfic.

(Anonymous) 2016-12-30 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
The writing is hard for me to parse, but that aside, it's a horror game and says so right on the subject line.

that pokemon reserve thing is kinda complicated and weird. pokemon only you can use? c'mon, not all pokes are the same. what if i just want an asshole shiny sylveon who has a grudge against boys or something but someone already has a shiny sylveon?

if we're going for a "monster only you can use" thing maybe this should be a digimon game

anyone try this out?

i was looking at this as a potential game. anyone app that can share their experiences?

I apped in and am excited to play! But the game just opened yesterday (1/13) so I can't really say yet how it's going. Since it's a new game, the best way is to app in and see for yourself imo!

Today is just another day, or maybe it's even your lucky day. Maybe you wake up in time to hear your favorite song on the radio. Maybe you find a five-dollar bill on the sidewalk during your morning commute. No matter what everyone you pass greets you with a smiling face. The city is at peace, but you can’t shake the feeling that something doesn't feel quite right. It's almost as though something isn’t exactly as you remember...but that's silly, isn't it? Everything else is still the same. You're surrounded by the same buildings and people you've always known. All of the comforts of home are right at your fingertips. Are you feeling all right? Maybe you should take it easy today. Rest assured, there’s really nothing to worry about at all…

Recollé is a pan-fandom mem-loss and regain game taking place in a modern setting. On an Earth similar to the one we know, characters live out their daily lives as they believe they always have. However, it soon becomes clear that this world isn't as familiar as they think it is. With an ever-changing environment and an even deeper mystery to solve, characters must work to not only regain memories of their former selves but to help decide the fate of this and many other worlds lost.

The premise really intrigues me but I am a bit wary of certain aspects of your FAQ:

IC Consequences: OOCly what this means is that the modteam will discuss with you what your options are. To follow the examples above, a character tried for murder will be kept in jail, but they will be able to have visitors and continued access to the in-game network and IC inboxes so the player can pass AC and earn regains.

Doesn't that basically tell people not to play villains? Losing all access to non-prison logs it can be rather discouraging.

Post Death-> Upon waking, your character will also lose all of their regains including both items and memories and instead will be filled with a sense that they're missing something

Every past-AC comment is half a point. some of the items are cheap to redeem but you have 100+/350-400 points tier reddemed stuff. Let's do some basic math, a 400 points item is 800 extra-ac comments, if I had it I'd be extremely upset if someone decided to kill my character and I had to lose all of this. Isn't it a bit too extreme as punishment? Because you lose all memories, all items, everything, you die once and restart from zero...

PRE-GAME
• All horses are now Chocobos, in both popular media and actuality. Before game start, characters will have found this perfectly normal. At game start, they will realize that they do in fact remember horses being a thing.

If my characters is from a Final Fantasy game how will they notice the difference? Shouldn't you at least add a non-FF world themed thing too?

I like the premise, beside that, and I am considering to apply in the game despite everything but I see how this could be a problem.

Hello! Thank you for checking out our game and addressing us with your concerns. We hope that the following will suffice:

To follow the examples above, a character tried for murder will be kept in jail, but they will be able to have visitors and continued access to the in-game network and IC inboxes so the player can pass AC and earn regains.

Doesn't that basically tell people not to play villains? Losing all access to non-prison logs it can be rather discouraging.

We feel that given access to the IC network and IC inboxes still allows freedom for players of imprisoned characters a range of activity they can use and can allow for creativity in certain cases (a clever villain could attempt to break out of prison, for instance.) In addition, as notated we as a modteam will discuss with you what your options are based on the crime in question to ensure it doesn’t hinder your experience in the game. Recollé is designed to allow players to tell their own stories, though we do try to keep a certain amount of realism to an unreal, ever-changing world. There are a variety of villainous deeds a villain character can pull off without immediate punishment, but we do ask that players of those characters keep in communications with us so we can discuss options every step of the way.

Post Death-> Upon waking, your character will also lose all of their regains including both items and memories and instead will be filled with a sense that they're missing something

Isn't it a bit too extreme as punishment? Because you lose all memories, all items, everything, you die once and restart from zero…

In a case where someone else is killing your character, we ask that players talk to us about PCs killing PCs so that all parties are aware of what this means for both players. (In such cases, we also encourage players to keep murder plots specifically relevant to events or shifts in the game rather than out of the blue because a villainous character feels like it.) While the above rule applies to a character dying via the game’s setting during events or other mod-set opportunities and also applies to a PC killing a PC, we also feel that this gives players a heads up as to what to expect for such a dire consequence in the game. As notated above, we do try to keep some realism in the game itself and since in the real world people don’t come back from the dead, this is our regeneration mechanic.

All characters no matter what will start the game seeing horses as horses. Upon the start when Chocobos are integrated into the setting, every playable character will notice there is a difference. In a case like a Final Fantasy character, they then have the option of regaining a memory that this isn’t the first time they’ve ever seen a Chocobo if they’d like to claim this memory for their character. (As laid out in our regains page, while all memories require a trigger it’s not necessary to have each instance immediately spawn a memory.) In addition, over the course of the game we will be integrating other items, motifs and special nods to other canons both in and out of the game as the game develops.

We hope this answers your concerns, and we are more than happy to further elaborate on these. Thank you for taking time to bring these to us!

RESURGENCE

[personal profile] podbella 2017-01-01 02:47 am (UTC)(link)

After the fall of Voldemort, the wizarding world experienced a period of unprecedented peace and prosperity. Life improved--or went back to normal--for most. Minister Shacklebolt left office nearly 20 years later with an incredibly high approval rating, and was replaced by war hero Hermione Granger-Weasley in 2017. However, when a global recession slowed the muggle economies of the world, the wizarding world was not spared its effects, and Minister Weasley lost the 2024 election to conservative Terence Higgs.

By 2035, many wizards are out of work, shops have closed, money is tight, and the people are looking for someone to blame. A dark figure is on the rise, claiming to be by the people, for the people. But will the hero they get really be the one they need?

Resurgance is a dark, next-gen Harry Potter game hosted at Insanejournal!

WANTED: Scorpius Malfoy, Hugo Weasley, Aurors, Ministry officials, journalists, Healers, out of work/disgruntled wizards

Game opens February 1!

You state in your rules "We will not be allowing any secret children of characters who died before the Final Battle. That means no children of...Bellatrix Lestrange", yet you have a character by the name of Selena Lestrange on hold, who is presumably not Delphi from CC but is nonetheless the daughter of Voldemort and Bellatrix.

Not a good look to have when luring in players.

Will peace prevail? Or is conflict inevitable? Let the story begin...

LOST CARNIVAL: A TRANSFORMATION CIRCUS GAME

[personal profile] ringleaders 2017-01-10 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
You earned yourself a debt. There are a lot of ways to do it. Maybe you played a game of chance without paying, and then lost. Maybe you watched part of a show through the curtains of the Big Top without a ticket. Or maybe you’re one of the rare few to seek out the Ringmaster by choice, to see what this strange new world has to offer. Either way, you end up with a job with which to pay the carnival back, and a contract.

For a year and a day, you’ll travel with the carnival, given work to match your skills. You’ll see the multiverse and help to bring wonder to its various inhabitants. You’ll meet new people, discover new passions, and change in ways both physical and emotional. And after that... the Ringmaster vows to return you to the precise place and moment you left. If, of course, that is what you still want.

Sounds like a good deal, right? Either way, it doesn’t really matter what you think of it at the moment. The Ringmaster has decided to give you this opportunity, and you had better make the best of it.

As you’ll soon learn, sometimes what goes on backstage is more complicated than it seems, and a carnival that can travel through worlds can also earn itself some powerful enemies.
Lost Carnival is a panfandom game centered around the activities of a mysterious carnival, capable of travelling between dimensions, and bringing a motley crew of indentured employees with it. Major themes include the mental and physical transformations that come with being exposed to the carnival’s faerie magic, as well as the dangers that come from meddling with other worlds.

The game is likely to run for a couple years, and is intended to have a flexible and free form meta plot that encourages contributions from players, and will balance carnival slice of life with more involved and dramatic plot arcs.
