how often have mods at this game accepted a character that was rejected in a previous app round? i wish they had just asked for revisions but maybe my app was too shit to justify it. admittedly i hammered it out in order to try to make the january app round

to you and the above anon. the worst was when a castmate with a close relationship to mine apped in, dropped after a few months due to rl issues and "losing the muse", then apped the same character to a bigger, faster game literally a week later. i stopped playing one of my favorite characters because i got so sick of being flaked on/enabled and dropped on.

inbe4 "maybe it was you". could be so, but my requests for crit fell on deaf ears or were met with reassurances that i was awesome at playing [x].

sleeping/driving/stuck in class/work. also depends on flow. if you put it on while having a heavy, heavy flow, it could dry within an hour or so of a big clot/amount passing. it's blood. once it's past your vag and into a pad/pubes, it can dry pretty quickly.

1. after patiently waiting for months because someone i'd planned a psl with had irl stuff, it was dropped when they came back after they lied to me about wanting to still play it. we were just about to start posting when i got radio silence.

it's one thing when this happens with some idea for a psl you and someone on plurk chatted about, another entirely when there's a several month long gap and a very rare otp involved.

2. i had close cr with a character whose ship partner was a massive flake. because of said flakiness, i didn't attempt to thread with them much unless it was super important (the flakiness would drop when that person was playing smut or something where their character was the center of attention) or smalltalk i was fine with being dropped after 2 tags.

the disappointment comes in as i watch my friend slowly get more and more irritated with their ship partner's flakiness until they get into a fight about it, and soured almost everyone in our small group on playing their current characters. i wasn't exactly one of these people but i was left with a single partner after all this was done. there was still so much i wanted to play out...

sorry for vagueness, just trying to avoid making this a massive textwall

I think it's just that it's a small market and it could never really support a huge number of releases to begin with and the VN market in general is on a downward trend (and has been for a while). Right now we also have otome and BL serving different niches––you don't really see all-ages BL these days (outside of ports of originally 18+ games) because otome serves that niche now.

I think the western market, while probably not rivaling the JP market in most cases, is pretty significant for VNs in general, particularly more mid-tier stuff (like for big names like Key or Age it's probably not as substantial as it might be for a medium-smaller company). Most BL and a lot of otome is more in that category (like I'm reasonably sure Ozmafia has sold more on Steam now than it did on Vita? I have to double check the numbers though). Anyway, it's a little hard to say how much impact the west could have on BL right now since... well no one else is localizing things and I'm slow as balls right now.

Good Haro just got an ask about this, well. (Did one of the anons from this thread send this to her?)

Though, I think another possible factor on top of everything else might be because a lot of BL developers not named Nitro+Chiral tend to go inactive after a releasing a game or two. And this apparently happens to devs like PIL/SLASH whose games were well-received by BL fans.

Any average, risk-adverse developer in Japan looking at the BL market in the already shrinking VN industry is probably not going to be filled with too much confidence at most of their potential competition disappearing somewhere after releasing a single game.

That being said...

Is it bad that despite what I said just now, I'd be interested if most of the galge devs in Japan decided to take a risk and pull a CLOCK-UP by experimenting with the BL market? Galge devs are looking for any way to survive thanks to the currently oversaturated, shrinking galge market and the BL game fandom is starved for new games, so I think it'd be a win-win situation for both sides.

Sadly, there's no way this is going to happen, so hahahaha... ha...

Then maybe I'll swap out Valusia and Shining Night for Koezaru wa Akai Hana. We just got Sona-Nyl and koestl hasn't gotten a chance to work on it yet thanks to Muv-luv and Grisaia.

Seconding the point about people he doesn't know well vs people he knows and trusts.

To look at it outside a Rule of Funny perspective, the reason he's been more open to actual emoting in recent seasons is likely because he's more comfortable with everyone in the Nine Nine. In-canon he's faced extreme discrimination from the passive to actively trying to take him down, so - while he's obviously naturally subdued and taciturn - at least part of his total deadpan attitude especially in the earlier seasons is a learned method of dealing with assumptions and potential undermining or disrespect. That'd probably be the guiding principle in terms of meeting new, probably-weird people in a game.

On the other hand, he is a man who openly cried in a cinema over statistical analysis in Moneyball and got misty-eyed with happiness when he thought his husband had sent him a gift basket of office supplies. Rule of Funny when it comes to how straight-laced he really is applies.
