anon, i'm not sure how to put this, but the thing you're whining about happens all the fucking time. creators constantly reference or borrow from their previous amateur works.

i looked at the mural again and the only argument i can really agree with is the nose shape being changed, but it's also a heavily stylized picture. and i agree that the supposed dark hair in the mural was just her cowl/hood/whatever.

that said, people can still headcanon her as south asian. there's nothing stopping them. some women from south asia have naturally smaller noses (and bd's is still pretty long and sloping).

are you dense? amber has no creative control in su, she's just a storyboard revisionist. she stole off someone else's property and used it for her own amateur work, the situation you're describing isn't this at all.

got any links? not doubting you or anything. 'aliens kidnap humans and put them in a zoo' doesn't strike me as a super unique plot line, though. it would be iffy amber did "copy" su, but legally there probably isn't a case.

it depends on what amber's human zoo is like. if everyone wears loin cloths and has talking earrings telling them what to do then yeah, that's a bit of a problem.

it's not identical down to the loincloth, but it uses the same twist of 'sterile sci fi space station turns out to have a lush jungle on its premises', plus the divide between the humans who know of the outside world and the humans in the zoo who've always been cared for, live in perfect harmony and don't know shit. i'd be willing to give her the benefit of a doubt were the art style and character design not so blatantly ripped off from su as well, not to mention their own admission to shamelessly stealing off homestuck. is there a single original element to this thing?

oh god i remember her, schmelby or something? always hated her art, thought she was a shining example of how far nepotism can really get you when you have minimal skill.

Some like it, some don't. I found people jump on intro posts and then ignore you, even if you try to tag out. It felt cliqueish -- moreso than most dwrp games.

this. i'm sure everything will be automated eventually, but the current reality is that we're nowhere near being able to automate a lot of types of jobs yet. we just don't have the technology it would take to be able to create, say, a robot plumber. are we going to get there at some point? sure, but it's not going to be until years and years from now, probably at least a decade.

well she has the excuse that she works on the show which everyone else copying the style for the sake of popularity don't have. i do think she did it just so people would pay attention to the comic, though.

Well idk about you but I won't be anywhere near retirement age in a decade. I mean I'm just relaying what's happening in my own company (trying to automate and eliminate some jobs by the 2020s), and I highly doubt my company is the only one doing it. Yes, obviously not all jobs are going to go poof in the next ten years or even probably in my lifetime (especially not skilled jobs, which is what I would consider a plumber to be), but they are gradually being shaved off.

The nice thing about Eudio is that the application is so easy that it's not a pain to toss in characters to see who sticks.

My first character there was a total bomb, the second one was okay, my third worked out way better. It's just a matter of finding the right one.

Anons who didn't do something the "traditional" way but got ahead in life anyway, what kind of bullshit do you deal with from butthurt babies who did it the "traditional" way and are butthurt as fuck because they're not as successful as you? If this doesn't apply to you, plz share with the class tell us about situations like this you've seen.

Here's a famous example: "Fucking Bill Gates, I paid out the ass for college and I'm not one of the richest people in the world like that asshole who's a fucking drop-out and a thief (lol)!" Son, you aren't responsible for an operating system that revolutionized the 80's, when computer technology as primitive as fuck. There's a huge difference between designing an OS now and designing one 30 years ago. Just because he dropped out doesn't mean you're automatically better for finishing college.

Let me use a "fan work" example too: Darren Criss. He got attention for working on that Harry Potter musical and then eventually got some famous roles like in Glee. I see plenty of more obscure artist types (especially actors) piss and moan because they're TRADITIONAL! and "don't need to make fan content to get popular." They'll whine about how since they're a starving artist in New York/Hollywood who applies for any obscure-ass part they can possibly qualify for while crossing their fingers that some famous dude will notice them and they'll finally get their magnum opus, they work a million times harder than assholes like DC do and THEY deserve fans, not him! PS. If you act in a play based on Romeo and Juliet or the Nutcracker, you are technically selling your soul to content that isn't 100% original content donut steel like that piece of shit Darren.

It's really funny when someone who complains about how "fan art = easy popularity" claims that they're better than those dumbbutt fan artists because they "don't draw for pageviews/notes" they draw because they "love art and letting their creative juices flow"! Motherfucker, why are you bitching about popularity, then? If you supposedly don't need attention, prove it and don't post your shit on the internet.

I spent years making fan works (let's say for Pokemon) and when I made original works, my "Pokemon" fans loved the fuck out of my original work even though it's not about collecting 'em all or cockfighting. And I'll frequently see people who aren't interested in making fan content crymoar because I'm "a fucking hack" and I'm "only popular because I "drew a Skitty fucking a Wailord once, and anybody can do that!" And no, I don't have any college experience, which pisses a lot of art school kiddies off. I'm not saying I'm already Piccaso level but it's not like going to college is the absolute only way to get gud at something.

I might not be as famous as Hussie or Sugar but at least I'm not some whiny misanthropic fuck whining about how "sheeple" are too fucking dumb to appreciate "meaningful" content and flock to pictures of Captain America fucking Iron Man instead. Yeah, that'll make people love your work, complain about how fucking stupid they are. With that kind of behavior, the only "fans" you'll attract are "intellectuals" with the same anti-fanart mindset.

Let's not forget that not many people are going to give a fuck about some nobody on Tumblr posting pictures of birds/skulls/sparkledogs and their OCs, and that's it. Why should I care about your characters when I know nothing about them other than what they look like? I know nothing about your OC's background, their relationships, their motivations, their anything. Make a webcomic or a video game, boom, done. Even if you're not popular enough to sell merchandise, put some ads on your site and set up a Patreon, it's better than sitting on your ass and bitching about sheeple.

i didn't mention manufacturing jobs at all. there are a lot of jobs all over being taken over by automation; serving kiosks, automated menus, auto wash, auto (insert auto thing here). so many places are 'cutting costs' by replacing human workers with automated services, and that extends over a variety of jobs, from office work to fast food to yes, manufacturing jobs. and when cutting costs with automated services means less jobs for people, then that's where the problem starts. why pay three to four people for one position for a 24hr service via shifts when you can just replace them with an automated kiosk? it's getting to be that automation is going to be the norm, and all those minimum wage jobs that people are fighting for a living wage for may be replaced via bots, meaning less jobs for people, living wage or not.
