Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

I spent years making fan works (let's say for Pokemon) and when I made original works, my "Pokemon" fans loved the fuck out of my original work even though it's not about collecting 'em all or cockfighting. And I'll frequently see people who aren't interested in making fan content crymoar because I'm "a fucking hack" and I'm "only popular because I "drew a Skitty fucking a Wailord once, and anybody can do that!" And no, I don't have any college experience, which pisses a lot of art school kiddies off. I'm not saying I'm already Piccaso level but it's not like going to college is the absolute only way to get gud at something.

I might not be as famous as Hussie or Sugar but at least I'm not some whiny misanthropic fuck whining about how "sheeple" are too fucking dumb to appreciate "meaningful" content and flock to pictures of Captain America fucking Iron Man instead. Yeah, that'll make people love your work, complain about how fucking stupid they are. With that kind of behavior, the only "fans" you'll attract are "intellectuals" with the same anti-fanart mindset.

Let's not forget that not many people are going to give a fuck about some nobody on Tumblr posting pictures of birds/skulls/sparkledogs and their OCs, and that's it. Why should I care about your characters when I know nothing about them other than what they look like? I know nothing about your OC's background, their relationships, their motivations, their anything. Make a webcomic or a video game, boom, done. Even if you're not popular enough to sell merchandise, put some ads on your site and set up a Patreon, it's better than sitting on your ass and bitching about sheeple.

I was going to agree to some of your points, like that there's not just one way to do things and that everyone has their own paths and maybe some people should open their minds, and also not worry so much about how others are achieving their goals. If someone wants to draw fanart and that leads to enough fans who'll be interested in their original art, that's great (it's what I've done)! If someone is sad they're not getting enough views on their original art, they deserve a nudge to let them know their art is fine and they'll get more interest if they tell the world their stories for their OCs as well! And that not everyone has to go to college to achieve their goals in live, but some people also really benefit from it so it can go either way, depending on you as a person!

But your tone is so off-putting and condescending. Like you're making fun of the people who didn't do it the way you did or you take joy in upsetting people with how you're achieving your 'greatness' ("lol I piss off art school kiddies by not going to art school and still being awesum!!"). I get being annoyed with other people's attitudes towards certain things, but the way your comment reads is so mean-spirited it's hard to empathize with you at all.

My bad, I don't mean to shit on everybody who does the "traditional thing." I'm pretty grumpy about this so maybe I'm coming off as more of a douchebag than intended.

If you act like anyone who doesn't do it your way is "cheating" and "they don't deserve fame and money like I do!!!", you can honestly eat a dick. Those are the people who deserve all the butthurt they put themselves through by constantly whining about successful people who don't go to college.

Some of my grundge wankers are chronic whiners and it's like... holy shit, stop bitching about me so much and go work on your own fucking art or something. It's not like I'm a well-known wanker who's fucked people over like PurpleKecleon or Zeriara. Some of them, without fail, whine nearly every time I update my original work. "How is OP still popular?????" "Oh my god, I could draw a better webcomic than OP with my eyes closed." "I wish people would see OP's true colors and ditch their untalented ass..." Some of these guys act like I'm some wanky-ass motherfucker but they never seem to have any decent deets. Or they'll give "weak deets" like "OP drew a non-caucasian character and didn't exaggerate their features enough" (see: Zammi or w/e her name is drawing that one Jewish guy with a nose that wasn't big enough) or "OP said something was "l*me" once! ABLEIST!" (This one legitimately applies to me)

I'm completely aware that I'm on an anon comm at this very moment, and I might love my internet drama, but at least I don't bitch about the people I hate publicly on my Tumblr all the time. On the rare occasions that I do whine about some famous asshole (like that chick who drew the cumdumpster "trans man" Steve Rogers with the giant titties), I complain about valid things like her being a sexist and transphobic piece of shit, not "WHY CAN'T I BE THIS POPULAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
