Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

got any links? not doubting you or anything. 'aliens kidnap humans and put them in a zoo' doesn't strike me as a super unique plot line, though. it would be iffy amber did "copy" su, but legally there probably isn't a case.

it depends on what amber's human zoo is like. if everyone wears loin cloths and has talking earrings telling them what to do then yeah, that's a bit of a problem.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-04 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
the zoo part starts around here: http://www.neo-kosmos.com/page/890 and the kids who live on it show up about 20 pages later.

it's not identical down to the loincloth, but it uses the same twist of 'sterile sci fi space station turns out to have a lush jungle on its premises', plus the divide between the humans who know of the outside world and the humans in the zoo who've always been cared for, live in perfect harmony and don't know shit. i'd be willing to give her the benefit of a doubt were the art style and character design not so blatantly ripped off from su as well, not to mention their own admission to shamelessly stealing off homestuck. is there a single original element to this thing?

oh god i remember her, schmelby or something? always hated her art, thought she was a shining example of how far nepotism can really get you when you have minimal skill.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-04 10:34 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, one's amber and the other is her SO, shelby. i agree, i always hated her art too. the only thing she had going for her is drawing homestuck yaois back when people really, really cared about homestuck yaois.

she doesn't even draw any more, she just colours amber's drawings.

am i the only one that's bothered that they use the steven universe style and not their own personal style?

it feels like an attempt to lure in su fans to their personal work...

lmk if i'm being a tittybaby, anons.

well she has the excuse that she works on the show which everyone else copying the style for the sake of popularity don't have. i do think she did it just so people would pay attention to the comic, though.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-04 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
nah, for sure, anon. this whole comic is a huge panderfest, from EVERYONE IS NONBINARY!!! to the black trans midget with vitiligo. it's super cringy.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-07 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
normally i think i'd be all about this sort of thing, but i'm trying to read about this webcomic and i just Can't. it really is cringe-worthy.

i don't know what it is either. like it's nice seeing something that isn't about generic white male protag #8749384793 but at the same time this is just awful.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-07 12:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Because rep isn't a thing that actually matters the way people try to scream and shout it does.

The actual content of the piece does.

there's a study going on that's finding the more you claim to need and want for someone to be like you on a show so you can relate to them (Gender, race, sexuality, ect.) The more egotistical, narcissistic, and the least emphatic and kind you are

(Anonymous) 2017-01-07 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
link? I'd love to read this but google isn't finding me much.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-08 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
yeahhhhhhh i think that study is bullshit and/or irrelevant.

i don't personally want someone on a show to be more like me so much as i am tired of seeing white male protagonist #infinity with added manpain because all his female love interests are doomed to fridging. i think a lot of people are and that study has fuck all to do with the problem with our media.

that said i still think this webcomic looks like shit.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-08 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Irrelevant bc both of them are white

(Anonymous) 2017-01-08 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
that'd explain a lot tbh

(Anonymous) 2017-01-08 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
proof that white straight men are the most narcissistic and least empathetic

(Anonymous) 2017-01-08 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
explains why the "but we can't make our own poc characters, we have to racebend all these white characters!!!" tittybabies don't understand that their "we can only relate to people who look/talk/are exactly the same as me!!!" argument would very easily apply to whites, too. and cis folk, and straights.

(Anonymous) 2017-01-08 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
neither of them are writers and it's painfully obvious in the stilted dialogue and weird pacing. shelby used to have an actual writer friend and her previous comic, apothecia, was fine because of it, but neokosmos? neither of them know how to construct a narrative and it shows.

Futurama has like eight episodes and I think it started on twilight zone or outer limits
