I've noticed two types of vanguards in multiplayer: The kind that are really, really good, zoom in, steal all the kills and piss everyone off, and the kind that can't vanguard worth shit, zoom in, die, and piss everyone off.

Vanguard is my favorite class in the single player game. :(

Lets have a multi-player story thread guys. Just because. Do you prefer to play with friends, or do you just play with some random shmucks?

I'll do either. Er, play with friends or random people.

I typically stick to salarian engineer, sometimes attempt drell adept. But man drells are squishy.

Your krogan has questionable taste in what he deems appropriate for "harem material".

Unless he's one of those krogan that enjoys salarian flexibility.

Never tried the multiplayer. I'm pretty sure I'd be terrible at it because I hate shooter games and have no aiming skills.

I only put up with in-game combat because MA is such a great story apart from all the shooting at things.

Friends all the way. Both because I have a lot of old multiplayer horror stories I'd rather not revisit, and because there's a lot more freedom to fail with friends. We've been gaming together for-freaking-ever, for the most part, so we're all just as comfortable having 'let's dick around with these new things we unlocked and might be horrific at because we've never done this class/skill combo before' time as we are actually going for mission completion.

Friends only, typically. I figure if I want to play pubs, I'll play DOTA.

I usually play quarian infiltrator, and I really hate vanguards because they always seem to kill the guy I've lined up or send him flying in some blast. Leave some kills for the rest of us, man. :c

I'm so addicted to MP it's a little ridiculous. Always play with friends only, and almost always with another mun that RP's Mordin. Used to be a shotgun-wielding Vanguard until I embraced and loved the Sniper Rifle.

I play Turian Sentinel/Soldier (what a surprise) and Salarian Engineer. With the Sentinel and Engineer I roll with a Black Widow, it's amazing. Waiting on a Salarian Infiltrator now. I have everything but that, Asari Adept, and Krogan Sentinel unlocked.

How do you get past the -9% power reload with black widow on engineer? I've noticed if I use anything besides just an assault rifle on engie I get massive reload delays.

But then my play style is turret then incinerate, so power reload is my lifeblood and I'm sure there's different playstyles out there!

On the Salarian Engineer there's a bonus that reduces the weight of Sniper Rifles by 30%, which is nice. The reload delay doesn't bother me that much, though - since I don't really spam powers with the class. I have Incinerate maxed out but I don't use it much outside of with banshee, brute, and ravager.

I tend to use Energy Drain (also maxed out) more, but usually to just stagger enemies / gain back shields. 4 ranks in decoy, which also helps in mission objectives but it doesn't need to be spammed much. With classes that do need powers spammed I just switch to a Carnifex or something lighter.

I've been trying to branch out more lately, too. The salarian was sort of gem for me, didn't expect to like it this much.

Haven't used the quarian Engineer yet - I just unlocked her last night!

THE BLACK WIDOW IS AMAZING.

I've been blasting through silvers with it on my human infiltrator maxed out for maximum damage in cloak. It's so satisfying to obliterate a brute in like two well-placed shots.

It's pretty heavy though, but I don't even use powers. I've maxed out everything while putting nothing into incinerate at all, just relying on cloak and nasty sniper shots with a sticky grenade or two here and there.

I've only played with random shmucks so far, since most of my friends are on PC and I'm on the xbox. Almost without fail, they've been teams of mostly vanguards that melee everything before I can line up a shot. I miss sniper bullet time.

It's worth pointing out that the latency in multiplayer is really fucking bad, particularly for Vanguards. Ask a Vanguard roughly how many times they've tried Charging or Novaing only for the game to flat out ignore their input for seconds at a time.

+1, and it's why i've mained a turian sentinel despite vanguard being my favorite class in sp. melee is also pretty fucking impossible, so it's almost always better for me to cut my losses and try to line up a shot even on enemies with only a tiny bit of health left.

as for the other question, i just play with random people on random maps/enemies. sucks when you get the occassional team of idiots on gold, but i generally just stick to silver for a greater chance of actually surviving until the end.

Mostly with friends, but if there's only one or two of us, we usually make the last slots open to public. Sometimes I'll play with random people once I've lvled up whoever I'm grinding with.

Don't really have a class/species I stick with, but generally I prefer being an engineer or inflitrator class. I dabbled in the vanguard class for the first time through MP and...it's not really my playstyle lol. Although when you have Krogan soldier partner, it turns the entire session into one massive space football.

I am the very model of an engineer salarian. Besides that I am rather fond of my drell adept and my krogan sentinel. Aaaaand my human engineer because hot damn that combat drone is so useful.

I play with friends and random dudes. Sometimes both at the same time.

I live in a weird timezone, so it's very rare that I can play with friends. Usually go for strangers and give no fucks if I suck compared to them, I just make sure to not die too often as to not annoy people.

And have been playing Human Infiltrator and enjoying it. Kinda want a Quarian Infiltrator, but still need to unlock (only recently started playing).

I feel you about the Vanguards, though. B( All my frustrations when I line up for a shot, only to have them barge in and swoop the kill.

Vanguard is my favorite class in SP and MP. I play with #TeamVanguard often, and honestly it's kind of hilarious to see four Vanguards chargnova'ing everything in sight.

Which honestly I also do in SP, I keep waiting for Garrus to yell at me for kill-stealing.

I've actually only ever played MP with friends, since I'm afraid of randoms, tbqh. deeply embedded fears from other games. I am usually a human vanguard, but I did just unlock an asari and I enjoy biotic-skating all over the playing field, so I've been playing as her more.

Biotic skating is super neato, but I hate that it drains your barrier. I'm always afraid some cloaked hunter or guardian is going to sneak up behind me and smash my brains in while my barrier is weakened :(
