it's like they think if you're selling them things to put in themselves, you obviously want to hear intimate details about those things coming out the other end.

a few additions:
- Judaism is not just a religion. It is a bloodline and a culture. For many Jewish people, keeping a connection to culture/tradition is equally—or more—important than faith itself. Thus, it isn't uncommon for Jews, particularly those from more reform/secular households, to consider themselves agnostic or even atheist, but still follow a lot of religious observance. This is in part due to the inherently questioning nature of the Jewish faith; however, it's worth noting that the diaspora means that lots of Jewish people are raised without a strong Jewish education. There are also, honestly, the after-effects of the Holocaust to consider.

If you're a non-Jew looking to rp a Jewish character, I'd be very careful with this aspect of Judaism. Nevertheless, I want to put it out there, because the idea that the best way to represent a Jewish character is to have them be extremely devout is just...not representative of my own experiences.

- a common misconception: the "old testament" is not the whole of the Jewish religious text. I'm not myself well-enough educated here to feel comfortable going into much detail, but the Tanakh consists of the Torah, the Talmud, and a number of other books. This is an important thing to research if the character in question has had a Jewish education.

Working on voicetesting this guy so if anyone wants to do things, I'd be up for it. Memes, musebox, and he's got an open post in his journal for anything.

The anons above have a bunch of great suggestions, but I want to add:

Protip: If you want to do a fun thing with a character's Judaism that can reasonably involve other characters, look up Purim! —Or, as I like to call it, "drunk jewish halloween." The Purim story actually doesn't involve god at all, which makes it extra rp-friendly. (Purim already passed this year, but: for future reference.) Learn why Esther is so great! Dress up in costumes! Eat cookies specifically designed to make fun of an ancient asshole's hat! Get really, really drunk!

Eh... I don't get mad if someone doesn't match my length, but I do get mad if they don't match my involvement. My tags tend to be on the long side because I'm working to direct the action, and get our characters moving someplace or doing something so they're not just sitting in a void chit-chatting. If you don't return the favor and only give me dialogue and bland "he shrugs & scratches his nose" type action, you can bet your bonnet I'm annoyed about it.

To be honest though I tend to be more forgiving of being matched with sprawling paragraphs of introspection with not much action still, because at least then it's obvious they're engaging with the material.

Me too! I tend to do everyone's convos and their character quests because I like reading them, but I haven't try ignoring them and see what their final judgement convos are like if their character arc isn't completed.

I just started my latest NG+ and hopefully, I get to screenshot/transcribe someone I haven't seen.

And also, where would we put them? A DW journal? Tumblr? Google doc?

Anyone know where the hell shipping Mercy/Zarya came from? Someone on my timeline won't shut up about it, and as far as I can tell it literally came out of nowhere.

When playing a companion in game I try to match whatever the MC is for world state, choices, etc if I'm coming in after them or if they app soon after my app into the game (and try to be vague about Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor if I don't have one - which is pretty easy, it's rare to find someone who deviates from a standard for those three). I generally ask first if someone is okay with being "(My Character)'s (Protag)" and while I've never gotten a no I'd roll with it if I did.

If they app in significantly later after I do and there's things I established that can't be easily retconned after they join (Or the prevous one dropped and a new one apps) I just roll with 'Oh, different protag'. Alternately I do this if I want to play a character from a very specific set of player controlled circumstances that pretty much never show up. Isabela who was given back to the Qun, exiled!drunk!Alistair, Cole who ragequit the Inquisition.

they got shut down on wg, so they're probably going to shit up rpa for the rest of the post and maybe next one. at least until the game either floats or sinks. then they'll keep trying to stir up shit on all games. it's obvious in flatview that they're just crapping all over everywhere because they're bored and they're SO FUNNY.

I've found also if you work anywhere that has a restroom available, you're bound to hear something either from someone needing the bathroom or the poor employee who has to clean it.
