Assuming you're talking online - I would block (if it meant I didn't have to see their journal or whatever) and unfollow/unfriend them everywhere I had them followed. If it was a big deal to me to go cold turkey on somebody I'd even use that plurk greasemonkey script to block me from seeing their replies on other people's plurks. I'd take a step back from people who were super close to them and wanted to talk to them or talked about them all the time, not in a mean way but in a distancing way.

If it's irl, I would say just take a step back as much as you can in the same way. Avoid their hangouts for awhile, at least while you're still really missing them, avoid going out with them even in groups of friends so you don't have to see them and feel awkward or longing. If you work with them or are in close contact some other way that's tough, I would just withdraw into being polite and professional but not pursuing any other contact.

This probably all sounds really extreme but idk, when I've had to cut people out I've found it's much easier, especially at first, to remove myself as much as possible from even seeing them around, or it just makes missing them worse and harder to get over.

I enjoy RPing with people who tag back fast, but there are a few people I've played with who probably need to think and consider a little more before they hit that 'post comment' button. Sometimes the first thing that pops into your head isn't the "right" response, even if you're very comfortable with your character's voice. I think it helps to occasionally ask yourself things like "is this an engaging response" or "what direction should I be trying to go with this thread?"

Sometimes I feel like I'm overly deliberate, but. You know. There's an achievable balance.

One of my castmates dropped earlier this week. Would it be a faux pas to start hunting for a replacement on ATP today? Their character is extremely important to mine and I would like to have them around again ASAP, but I don't know if that would would be considered offensive. I mostly see this in the AU-type memes like cyberpunk, Roman, etc. Lots of people aren't really familiar with the cyberpunk concept or the Roman eras and worry about messing things up, so they shoot for the familiar.

On RP styles: I constantly rp with two different types of RPers.

The first kind are the people who will helpfully tell you everything about their character in their tag. Their inner thoughts, turmoil, memories, everything.

The second kind will give you actions and speech.

I find myself replying in kind or a mix of both. Which do you prefer, anons?

I don't mind the first type, but it gets awkward when you get a block of text about the character's feelings and turmoils and nothing else.

The character can be drooling on his shoes while he's thinking about all the hurt and the pain for all I know.

Yes, and everything but country. I don't have specific tagging music most of the time. But when I'm in a rut with a character, I tend to listen to their character songs or little FSTs or character-associated songs I have. Most of them are on the alternative/obscure side.

It happens all the time. They either immaturely try to fuck each other over, or they just accept the idea that alternate universes exist like we do while RPing. While they are generally stupid, most of them seem vaguely intelligent enough to realize that they don't actually have propriety on the characters they pretend to be bonded to.

I don't feel like studying for a midterm for a class I actually really enjoy. My college is a really good one and I have a full ride, too.
