Why is Phase still in the game? Players must have reported her for her previous behavior. Did the mods refuse to act?

kippur actually hasn't done anything other then being bad in rping and even then it's because they're still somehow stuck in 2006. idk why someone out there has this huge hate boner for them right now because they pretty much started name dropping them because they existed, not for anything they did.

kippur namedropped someone on wankgate for writing a bad review of their amazon book. that's how the whole kippur thing started

Uh, as someone who saw that go down, it actually was reversed. Someone had been constantly namedropping element_wizard and talking about how much the OC sucked, bringing it into a bunch of totally unrelated threads.

They then extended this to their player and started talking about the player's shitty and overpriced book, linking its Amazon page.

Someone then posted a c/p of the only Amazon review of that book, and theorized that the person who posted the review might be the one who was trying to make Kippur wank a thing. The review was promptly deleted, suggesting the person who posted it sure was on wg and actively checking, and it's been a lot of stupid shit about both players involved since.

Looks like overinvested grudgewank to me on both sides, but the Amazon review c/p was definitely in response to someone trying super hard to wank on Kippur, not "the start" of anything.

and they're also full of shit, there was like one mention of kippur in a generic "shitty sws players" thread and then a mysterious someone just happened to drop the one negative review of her shitty book (i think the book might have been brought up in the thread in a "lol look at this moron trying to charge people $40 for her vanity publishing)

it's like the only time in history anyone's been desperate enough to go all the way to amazon for wank so i'm like dead sure it was either kippur herself or some self-appointed guardian of the deranged autistic novelist (one of the positive reviews is from a close friend, which isn't breaking the rules but still makes me sideeye a little)

Did it? I frankly didn't care enough to check the actual book page on amazon, but someone had said on wg that there were zero reviews and a cache of the page showed one, so I'd assumed the one c/ped was the only review.

If what people were posting about it on wg was generally unreliable, feel free to ignore me because that's all I'm going off of.

Short answer, nobody's reported her because nobody has run into that kind of behavior while she's been in Melodies. I've never even encountered her character and had to check the taken list to even know who she was, it's a big game.

If somebody is going to report her, I'm betting the mods would want to see some current behavior that's alienating the other players, rather than older stuff. It's easier to not hold a grudge about second-hand deets we got off wankgate?

Uh, she threw a hissy fit in june on the day of the gay marriage ruling. Plenty of Melodies players saw that as she was in the game back then. Plenty dropped her like scalding coals from hell. It's not secondhand deets when melodies players have seen it first hand.

Stop making this out to be a wankgate issue. A POS of her level doesn't have people concerned over foundless wank.

i only recently joined melodies within the last few months so i wasn't in the game when that wank went down. as a newish player i don't want to stir up the pot for something i wasn't even around for, even though the player does make me uncomfortable and i want nothing to do with them as i am gay myself.

tell the mods anyway. we have a right to a safe space in our games, and phase makes it unsafe. the potential for hurt her presence offers is nothing good for the game.

the mods have a job to promote a safe environment for the majority, and they haven't done it. just because she hasn't started ranting off on an individual yet doesn't mean she isn't a risk, and she needs to go.

Another not-straight anon here, and likewise didn't directly encounter what happened since I wasn't in the game then.

I would gladly tell the mods, but without knowing the details, I'm afraid of not being able to make a more convincing argument as compared to say, someone who actually saw it. Is approaching on a general worry considered in okay form? But I'd really rather a willing person who was there do it.

Phase is still in the game because she hasn't done anything in-game to warrant giving her the boot. Yes, a few of us probably do remember her explosion over gay marriage, but, to be fairly honest, that shouldn't be a reason to ban someone.

As a few people have said, Phase is so utterly under the radar in this game that a few people had to go and look her up to even realize she was even in the game.

I don't know why the mods didn't automatically ban Phase when she showed up. Maybe they didn't know, maybe they didn't care, but it's obvious they gave her a chance.

actually, it kind of should, since it was out in public for all the world to see. the idea that plurks are somehow out of mods jurisdiction when it comes to making certain players are provided with a comfortable play environment is absurd. just because she wasn't doing it on melodies ooc posts doesn't mean she was doing it where melodies players could see it.

if it made players uncomfortable, it was a reason to ban her, regardless of where it happened.

I think she is an idiot too but we can't start banning people for their political opinions. Unless she has done anything in the game called someone a slur or deliberately tried to cut someone out of plots because they were gay there is no reason to ban her. Her political thinking might not be in line with yours or mine but she is entitled to hold her opinions. If her being in the game makes you uncomfortable just avoid her or better still get to know her become her friend. Maybe if she got to know a few gay people and really saw what people were hoping to achieve with laws like this then she might come around and see the error of her ways. Even if she didn't at least the rest of us would still feel free to express our political opinions on plurk without fear that we too might hold an unpopular viewpoint and find ourselves banned from the game.

she is still entitled to hold those opinions elsewhere. no one is censoring her. but part of the social contract is you don't go shouting something that clearly makes the majority of a group you're part of uncomfortable and expect to fucking get away with it because "muh opinions". that's not how any of this works.

besides, this isn't the same as saying which final fantasy is your favorite or that you don't like undertale. this is holding a set of beliefs that actively threaten and deride the lives of others, whether you're directly calling them worthless faggots or not.

Agree with much of this (for example being allowed to speak your mind, even if your opinions are shitty, so long as you're not calling individuals out) but not the making friends part. It's not our job to educate and normalize and take that abuse so that others will come around.

In a situation like this where I was to rub shoulders I'd only get close enough to watch carefully for anything that could be considered abuse, then report her to the mods.
