Rundown:

rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

did you even read the ooc post they posted a couple days ago? they specifically ask for people to approach them if they feel uncomfortable or want to share a concern.

it's fine if you want to stay anon at all costs. but you shouldn't expect rpanons or wankgate to do your job. if you really want something to be done, contact them.

^This. Listen, do you want to know something? I'm a player there I've talked to the mods. I showed them this post. I told them that I was concerned about Phase's presence here if a post like this showed up. Do you know what they told me?

They told me that if they were other players, that they should come forward and let them know. That the anon assumption that the mods knew of Phase's toxicity and refused to do something was completely false. That to kick her out because of her political standings was completely wrong and beyond their power to do so but they were willing to do so if the players themselves came forward and told them that Phase made them uncomfortable.

Before that point, no one has. Either the players don't realize Phase is toxic, the players do and they don't care, or the players do and they're taking the passive aggressive route and not touching her and hoping she gets the hint and walks off.

These mods are awesome and kind people willing to talk to you for any reason. Believe me, I was scared to confront them with this post because I was afraid that they would brush it off, but they didn't and their reply was concise and friendly.

Please, if you feel uncomfortable, confront the mods. Do what you have to do, but like the above anon said, you can't expect this place or Wankgate to do this job.

that's just completely false. there's no law saying they can't. they're just straight up unwilling because of some misguided attachment to a misunderstanding of what free speech means. they absolutely can do this, they're just too chickenshit to do so.

yeah, really. this is a hobby. mods don't get paid. they can kick someone out for posting selfies on plurk if they want. they'll get shat on for it, and it'll make no damn sense, but if that's what they wanna do, they're well within their rights. kicking someone out for being an open bigot is MORE than understandable, especially with so many LGBT and POC players in the game.

I'm anon because it's the culture of this place, not because I'm afraid of having this opinion attached to me. For what it's worth, I'm not a player in the game, though I have considered playing there in the past.

I've run games before. I've been a mod off and on at several games for damn near ten years now. Coming from that experience, I can't help but get frustrated at mods who think they are somehow obligated to uphold things like this. You're the mods. It's YOUR game. No one is holding you accountable to some higher ideal of freedom of expression.

Fact is, there is no such thing as free speech in RP, because removing Phase from a game for being a shitheel bigot isn't censoring her. She can still spout her vile shit. She just has to do so elsewhere. She is not entitled to play in this game. No one is.

To be honest, if people started to do that, we'd end up reaching the point where mods would toss people out for even the flimsiest of excuses.

I would rather have people come to me and let me know that what they're doing is making them uncomfortable than tossing them on a whim.

they didn't call me out on that. they said that kicking people out of games for expressing political beliefs was a slippery slope that could lead to superficial reasoning for kicks of any player. for god's sake, anon, the parent button is right there

i think referring to bigotry, racism, and misogyny as "political leanings" is also pretty disgusting and acting like that's politics is completely incorrect. it's basic rights and not being a piece of shit.

this isn't about gun control, that's politics. policing a woman's body and if same sex can marry same sex can be part politics but they are not just politics and to refer to them as just such is a false equivalent and placing the blame on anything but phase herself and using it as an excuse. these things should never be referred to in such a way because you remove who or what she votes for and those damaging, disgusting beliefs still remain and are detrimental to people and this community.

This is actually a lie. I directly commented to them, although anon, about my concerns. Just because it's anon doesn't mean it should be ignored. I didn't call names, I stated my case and why, stated that she was banned from other games and why, and even made a point that people I knew were uncomfortable apping to the game or bringing their issues to the mods because it didn't make them have any confidence in them.

Now that I know they're lying about that, I'm pretty disgusted and probably will be leaving soon. What a fucking game.

I'm just stating what they told me. As it stands, we both could be lying through our teeth, but the anons here will most likely believe you because you are of the stance that, as a player against Phase, your concerns have been dismissed by the mods and thus uphold the idea that the mods are "shit" for not automatically tossing out Phase the second she opened her mouth, if not the second she showed up in-game.

Honestly, at this point, I give up trying to convince people to take a stand. I said my part, now it's up to you. If you decide to quit, I'm sorry to see you go, whomever you are. And for those who don't want to play, it's quite the shame that you aren't because it's quite fun. But, if you want to make it fun and if you guys really feel that Phase's presence really does make you feel uncomfortable, instead of sitting here and making RPAnons Wankgate Lite or expecting the mods to believe the legion of anonymous posters, come at them as yourselves.

yes? the reply isn't necessarily screened. you won't see the original comment but you can presumably guess which is answering you from context, or if they say "to the anon who posted at x time"

Replies ARE screened, though. Sounds like someone's telling a big fat lie to stir up wank and drama.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the matter. Just because replies are screened doesn't necessarily mean no complaints were made. The anon from earlier may not have been aware of that fact when they made theirs.

It's also possible they didn't use the contact post at all. It's not the only way to get a hold of the mods.

What's to stir? It wouldn't be the first time the mods have ignored player concerns over Phase and it's doubtless not the last. I mean, if this is the hill you want to die on, go ahead, but if it's a lie, it's not one that's trying to convince us of anything we don't know for a fact at this point.
