No... because the "more info" part is basically just reiterating the initial idea behind it that I didn't like to begin with. I'm pretty underwhelmed by it to say the least. Not only that but I can't even justify my character ICly participating in something this stupid and that's one of the real problems with this idea: it isn't even all inclusive. An event centered around an Arehtei can be optional, sure, but it should be inclusive so that any character could get in on it.

But creating a pretend persona of themselves to go on pretend adventures? There's a pretty narrow window for characters that would do that. Again, the catering to Roy mod's affinity for this type of thing is obvious and it leaves a lot of us out. Truly disappointing. :/

Okay, so I was one of those people who jokingly said an rpg event would fun. Not sure if the mods can read context, but I'm fairly certain that for the most part everyone else was joking too.

So not really no. My character would icly participate but I'm disappointed. Maybe I'll hand wave everything.

I'm happy about it. It's really good for my character ICly to know that not every Arehtei wants to terrorize everyone, and I'm going to get some great long-term effects out of it. I've got some scenarios planned already and it's looking like I'm going to get half funny stuff and half serious stuff, which is a great balance, and I've scored an even mix between close CR, CR we want to get closer, and new CR.

I'll admit I wasn't taking it completely seriously when the first details went up. But the whole premise is allowing me to play with some ideas I'd had that I couldn't find an outlet for before, so I'm really looking forward to writing those out.

It's not what I envisioned or wanted for an Arehtei trial so yeah, I'm pretty disappointed. Going by the number of sign-ups and the excitement over my timeline though it looks like a lot of people are happy with what the mods have planned out, and that's great. I'll just have to work something out so that I can still join in and have fun. It's definitely more effort and I'm still salty as the Dead Sea, but I'll try to stay positive and hopefully things will work out.

I couldn't wrap my mind around the idea originally. Reading the Thras threads and the additional info, I can see why that Arehtei would like the idea of giving physically weak characters powers and taking the more powerful ones out of their comfort zones.

so disappointed it's not even funny. i wish people wouldn't participate to protest it but that's just me being bitter. i can't believe i waited so long for thras to appear only for this to be his event. i'm considering switching my character's alignment if this is the mod they're letting run thras stuff.

Otoh, if they want this to be dumb as hell crack, then fuck it, I'll give them dumb as hell crack. No one better crit me for playing crack during a crack event. If that's what it takes to turn this into being somewhat fun, so be it.

the details made me more excited than i already was. my character's going to be stepping out of their comfort zone, so i'm going to have them getting different emotion magic than their usual skills. it'll be interesting to see what other people have their characters learn.

So according to some recent threads Bradley is going to go for the third commander position in the Enforcers. Is anyone else a bit concerned about this considering the player has Celestia as a rep as well?

I'm not. From what I know of the character, it's IC, and I'm pretty sure the point of going for it is to stir trouble, not necessarily to actually succeed in getting the slot.

Plus, just because he goes for it doesn't mean he'll get it. He has to be voted into the position ICly. Everyone involved knows that.

I'd be concerned if the Enforcer stuff actually affected my character, but since it doesn't, I don't really care how many positions they hold.

Not concerned but it's definitely really weird. The enforcers aren't even really that big and now there's two characters by the same person in it so they won't be able to interact. So what's the point???

I'd rather Saber be a rep than Bradley. At least you see more of her around. Icly I can say my character wouldn't vote for Bradley.

since some anons were complaining about not being able to take the event seriously because of the "character creation" part, it's been clarified that it's not about making up a character/backstory/personality and more about having a different set of skills. this was what my character was going to be focusing on anyway, so it doesn't change anything for me, but what do other anons think, now that it's been pointed out?

anon, no matter how many times this question gets asked, the answers are going to be the same. people are disappointed, they don't like it, they've already decided that and they aren't going to change their minds.

My main interest was the silliness, so that's dead now.

For the people who didn't think their characters would be all that impressed or take it seriously, it's probably not enough of a change. The monsters aren't real, the characters' injuries are only damage points subtracted from a hit point pool or whatever. Okay, you don't have to deal with your best friend being ridiculous and LARPing it up, but it's still just a simulation up until the last second.

what the two anons above me said. especially the last comment. the worst part to me about this event is that it doesn't even MATTER. it's all still playing pretend in the end. they keep saying how ~~*REAL*~~ the challenges are and then emphasizing how it's "pretend". make up your minds...

besides that, the change to the character creation part? the mods are backpedaling super hard. early details specifically mentioned creating a character. so i just roll my eye at it. too little too late. still dumb. the only way to save this disappointing event would've been to completely re-work it.
