Um

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

It depends on a lot of things, but the biggest one for me was: is your character from something in the fantasy genre, or at least from something like the medieval period? You'll have a much easier time getting CR cross-canon. If not, it's more of a toss up, and will probably require a lot more legwork on your part to get the ball rolling. You don't necessarily need a cast, but it helps if you have the game's favored "type" of character. See: even the Dean, the quintessential popular character from a canon that always gets one or two castmates at least, isn't getting an overabundance of tags because he's not working much with the setting/characters who are used to the setting.

Thanks for the honest opinion!

I think this is really it. I've been struggling to get CR and threads with my LCW, but it seems more like character type not meshing instead of people avoiding a character with no cast. If your character is a fantasy or medieval type or at least would be motivated to work with the setting in similar ways the current popular/active characters are, you should be fine. If not, definitely more toss up. Might work out with a lot of work, might just be a waste of time.

This makes me think of how all the fantasy type characters go into games with modern settings and it all ends up with microwave disasters and ooh in door plumbing!

What we don't see enough of is people struggling without technology! Where are the people who can't light a fire or who find the castle drafty and cold or adjusting to a world where deodorant doesn't exist. And you know, the general horror at having to use a chamberpot to do their business.

I've had my character make mention of a few things, but tbh, I get just as bored of "OH MY GOD AN OLD FASHIONED TOILET" as I do with "WHAT IS THIS SORCERY? A TELEVISION????". Have a char mention it if you want, but going into detail about it and bringing it up all the time is annoying on either end of the spectrum.
