stop, anon. i see it less as caving to whiny tittybabies and more looking at the feedback they got and taking the fact that people were having difficulties into consideration and altering it.

they havent completely let it go. this was just a comprise.

it's going to be brought up later for plot reasons. so yeah, there are likely legitimate reasons for there to be issues and frankly, i like the idea. it's a deviation from 'magic/technology/jamjarhandwavy excuse' as to why everyone understands everyone else. it's a little bit of realism that can add to it if you use it right.

its why i personally didnt mind the charades tbh. i like that theyre attempting something different from the magical network device that magically translates everything.

hopefully when it gets brought up again people know how it works.

people didn't understand how it worked, they were going to lose cr, i've seen one character who only spoke french who it was drop-level game breaking for because they were unplayable

i liked the idea too, because i play an english speaker so it was just a bit inconvenient. but it was too drawn out and people were ignoring it and cutting the plot short rather than standing on modly pride was a good move

and you have aliens communicating with humans ok enough w/o the translator, but a french speaker can't communicate with anyone? is this real?

it was one ic anjian day, from the drop point to rendezvous. there might have been a few bumps from trying to converse for the french person if no one else spoke french, but i'm pretty sure there are a few characters that can actually speak french along with english. bond, for one. lara croft, for another. there's just no translation between french and anyone else's language, including non-earth ones.

people are making a bigger deal out of this than it is. ac is likely already met by the drop point logs if anyone bothered to tag around, so waiting an extra ooc month, if that's what it even took, for the next upgrade would have been feasible.

it has literally been about 2-3 ic days. if people can't deal with that, i don't holdout hope for those people handling other mechanics of this game, since it seems to be pretty on the ball in terms of tech/inventory/plots. this is not a game to join to coast by in.

uh and this is why it got changed imo

because "you have to wait a month before you can really play the game you just joined" is a shitty thing to do to anyone

aliens largely have castmates or magically speak english from what i see

anyone who had no or very few other characters they could talk to was in the shit. it's not that you had to charade with most people, it's that you had to do it with everyone

and we've done 12k comments in six days, it's a long time

not really. one ic day from the drop point to the base where the cuffs would have synched up everyone who was alien/english would have done it. as i said in the other comment re: the french speaking character, there are other characters from earth that speak french. if they'd gone looking, they could have found that.

it's not that it's a long time, because it's not. it's that there's so much to do or that people want to tag into and no one's willing to wait or work out complicated cr. six days is 2 ic days, anon. no one should be bffs by then. people who wouldn't have caught up should take the time to run with it. build up interesting cr. use the story being given to you. there will be cr to tag in a week or two or three. you don't have to have everything now.
