I'm not talking about over the top, cliché flirting, but general, realistic and laid back flirting you'd see come from the average guy. I've got little experience in the subject, being disinclined to romance and dating myself, and it would really help out with playing the character I am currently playing. He's open to flirting in canon, but he isn't one of those character types who flirts with everything that moves either.

is he good at flirting? because there's actually charming flirting, and then there's "haha so what are you wearing" flirting.

Yeah, think of flirting as like cooking. With both, you've got an end goal: with flirting it's probably to get a date, with cooking it's to have food to eat that's probably ideally tasty. With both you also have a lot of different ways to get to that end goal which range from indiscriminately shoving something in the microwave ("haha so what are you wearing") to some heartfelt home cooked meal (probably expressed in sweet gestures and the sort of thing people tend to aw about) to some decadent and exotic meal...you get the idea.

Right now you're at that basic stage where you're going my character wants to do this thing what do I do. What you'd need to do is go back and go okay, so I've got this character. These are his personality traits. This is how he'd probably go about doing it. Gaston wouldn't hit on ladies the same way Milo from Atlantis or Daniel from Stargate would, and they wouldn't do it in the same way Indiana Jones would.

You already have a leg up if he flirts in canon! How does he do it there? Cute, charming, funny, awkward?

Some people do it by expressing interest, others are more straightforward (telling someone they look good, suggesting they get together again, etc), some people are super blunt (overtly sexual language, joking around about that sort of thing)...

Or you know. A mix.

Also body language, like... Idk, where they're looking, for how long. Posture (leaning closer to the person they're flirting with, touching if they're the type), tone of voice...

I am super curious who the character is now, anon. YOU GOT ME.
