Okay

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Yes, and no.

There are monsters of a sort in the game and they make an appearance in the level that was more or less a bastardized version of the Cradle (but with less brickshitting to be had). However, the old factions are gone. There are no Hammerites/Mechanists, Pagans or Keepers - at least in the present. There are locations that have items that are directly related to these factions - in the House of Blossoms mission you stumble across the buried Keeper Compound (and explore the library, I think it's set up to be almost the same as the one in DS but memory fails me). Additionally one the later missions takes you to the dilapidated Cathedral.

That said, the lore is that these factions were present and faded from popularity some years ago. Three generations of Barons over the City have outlawed the worship of the Builder & Trickster. So you won't find any direct connection to these groups.

(There is mention of a group called marshdwellers which may or may not be present Pagans).

As far as magic, the only thing that actually makes an appearance is the Primal Stone (and the gloom, if you consider the disease magical) but that's unrelated to the previous games (unless it's somehow the Eye but that's really reaching). Otherwise, there are no malevolent spirits, no twisted rat or apemen (or creepy bugbeasts / craymen), or truly otherwordly beings.
