I feel like the main problem with this is that because the world is so freaking huge, it's very easy to get isolated from other player characters. Too many characters would much rather blend in with normal society than hang out with the other off-world types. Furthermore, characters from alternate Earth type worlds might end up wanting to move to the countries they are familiar with (and characters from other places might want to move due to climate or personal preference or whatever the fuck) and all of a sudden you end up with everyone literally scattered around the world, which makes new CR super hard.

Probably you could work out some way to fix this issue, though, and the idea does sound pretty damn appealing in other ways.

I disagree with the above anon, it's not just because the setting was dark or because there's a lot of emphasis on the memories. It's that she doesn't act like Kanaya because of the memories. When she apped in, there was no section on the form to describe how much your character changed. They added that not long after she got in. Her Kanaya is now rude, cagey, unhelpful, and madly in love with Eridan. If you wanted to play with an actual Kanaya, you're screwed.

The player takes this pretty personally too. Any time she gets crit or someone on an anon comm says something or someone makes a vague passing comment about Kanaya being different, she goes on the defensive about how it's CRAU so of course she's different!!!1111 Having a character that's impervious to crit solely because they are CRAU is really not fair, and I haven't seen anyone else in the game who's CRAU use that as an excuse not to take crit.

I'm not in a position where I have to play with her like her castmates do, but Kanaya is my favorite Homestuck character and my patron troll, so it's disappointing to watch.

if OP didn't want some arbitrary 'the government restricts you to one city/country' method of dealing with that, there's always the logic of convenience to take into account. these people cropping out of nowhere will have no money, no legal identities, may not look human - they might well be stuck in one location because they can't afford either illegally-made identity papers or to bring themselves to the attention of the authorities who might be inclined to recruit them or experiment on them.

apart from that, a network would be easiest to keep in contact with if they DID get to go to different countries. it would just remove the possibility of face-to-face posts for those characters.

Honestly I think that might be okay. As DA has pointed out getting around is going to be a problem for IC reasons for one thing. Hopefully the idea would be that the plotting of the players would bring people together, such as if a giant robot war machine sets France on fire people are going to want to get involved. Or flee! Whatever.

I was thinking of having a network type thing that only works for the other worldly types, but that's it. Perhaps something they use unwillingly, like they can't fully escape it even if they go live on a mountain.

So after making a laughing stock of yourself, I hope you don't expect people to actually play with you now.

Hey there. I know of at least two games with a Digimon cast right now. There's

route_29, which only has my Hikari here, a Miyako, and a Takeru currently, but we'd love to have any other Digimon characters there. We haven't really been as active these past few months as we could be, since school has been kinda horrible to two of us and work was horrible to the other one, but we're starting to pick up steam again.

There's also

dramadramaduck which has an Izumi and Kouji from Frontier. I haven't really interacted with them much (was planning on apping a Digimon character but never did), but they're there if you want to join a current cast with more than one person in it.

I'd like to tentatively offer to help modding! I have no idea how much spare time I'll have between classes and working full time, but I'm excited enough by the game to give it a shot. I think I'd do best handling something like maintaining the FAQ and suggestions page.

Regardless as to whether you want me on board as a long-term mod or not, I'd love to help develop the setting. Ranks and positions on the ship, background on the company, ship layout, etc
