[M] You gotta get with my friends

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

how fat are we talking, here? can you fit into a standard misses' XL, or do you need womens'/plus sizing? how old are you, what's your preferred fashion style? are you looking for casual wear, work clothes, party clothes, etc? can you sew well enough to tailor your own clothing if you have an odd body shape?

i'm a 22, so def plus sizing. i need business casual tops that aren't cut like i'm getting ready to pull out my breasts and flash people (which is a problem i've had with most attempts at plus size trendy clothes - just because i have breasts doesn't mean i want to have them hanging out when i need to lean over even slightly) but lane bryant is legit fugly 80% of the time. by this point i'm willing to pretty much wear anything that isn't a freaking bag or animal print tbh

oh, okay, I'm a 16 but my boobs are so big that i sometimes need a 22 to keep button-down shirts from gaping. The best plus size business shirts i've found are actually "jones new york" brand, which is available at many malls... their button downs are expensive, but they're made of nice no-iron heavy fabric and the tailoring is good. if you can score a blouse on sale, they're very worthwhile. might be a little too dressy for your workplace, but everybody needs one good white blouse that doesn't show bra.

http://www.jessicalondon.com is also nice... i have one of their blazers, and i am eyeing those cool 60s-mod looking tunics. get a nice blazer and you can pair it with cheap knit tops/turtlenecks from target and dark-wash jeans or slacks... looks fucking nice. the longer blazers with 2-3 buttons help prevent that breast enlargement look you sometimes get when a 1-button jacket pulls too much.

if you want to splurge on really expensive shit... http://www.navabi.co.uk has gorgeous designer plus-size clothes. if only i had more money... i got a boiled wool spring jacket there. boiled wool is great because it's actually comfortable to wear, and it's kind of hipster-trendy.

i hate that dowdy lane bryant crap with a passion. too many busy prints and gathers and fake jewels and it will look like you're wearing a tent made of old curtains. they also have a love affair with capris, which flatter absolutely no one. better to go for clean, tailored lines than stupid froufrou details that will be out of style in a few months. get a few really nice pieces (blazer, jacket, sweater) that can be used to dress up boring, cheap basics, and you'll stay relatively fashionable.
