[M] Here's an idea

Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Temporary Change: To reduce the strain on Dreamwidth's servers new entries will go up when a post reaches 3,000. Please refrain from spamming so we can stretch these entries for a little longer. We don't need several threads soliciting photo evidence of body parts, and we already know that we only care about yaoi. Failure to comply will only result in deletions and butthurt. "People may notice site slowdown/cache error pages. We're working on fixing. You can help: finish posts at 3k comments, not 5k or more." - Dreamwidth@Twitter

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

Concerns?

Navigate:

Hey! This is the designated catch-all entry. This is not an invitation to spam to your heart's content. The same rules apply.

what replicates metal dog food bowls?

(Anonymous) 2012-09-15 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
Some inexplicable stuff just happened, and I'm wondering what caused it. Here goes:

around 7pm, I hear my dogs pushing around one of their water bowls downstairs, so I get up and go to refill it. I do that, and for good measure, I refill the second, mostly-full water bowl. When I'm placing it back down though, I accidentally spill some of the water into their food bowl, so I pick that up, turn around and empty it into the garden.

When I turn back around, there's an identical metal food bowl in its place.

Naturally, I "what the fuck?" and poke it. It's solid and real. Not sure what to do, I put the original bowl down next to it and go back upstairs.

Some other stuff that might be relevant:
- I live in Australia
- Half an hour ago for about ten minutes, I heard things move around in my parents' closet, which is directly below my room. Like somebody's moving around the clothes on their coat hangars, kinda?
- And it's started up again right now. Kinda sounds like a ball rolling up and down the walls and the closet doors?
- earlier, things were moving around in one of the walls of my bedroom. Happened last night too. I'm pretty sure rats are responsible for that, though, since we had them once before and that's what they did.

I kind of doubt it. This house isn't haunted.

While that's interesting, I turned around for two seconds. And normally four people live here.

there were always two bowls, stuck together so close that the seal between them was invisible. somehow it loosened since you bought it, and you only picked up the top one.

except a) assuming I didn't hear a metal bowl clattering down on concrete, b) when I picked it up, my hand was holding the side and the bottom. assuming it was still possible for a second metal bowl to slip out like that, I most definitely would have felt/noticed it. I tried replicating that solution this morning and basically, I would have had to have picked up both of the bowls stacked on top of each other, or none.

Maybe there were two food bowls all along, but they were stacked on top of each other in such a way that you never realized it until you accidentally separated them.

if you're 100% sure it wasn't the two-bowls-stacked-on-top-of-each-other thing then i would start looking for paranormal explanations

I'm 100% sure. And yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking, but I don't really know what's out there, so I thought I'd ask on here and /x/ for possibilities to explore.

It's likely that when the bowls were purchased, two of them were nested together and stuck together. When you picked up one the other came unstuck. That has happened to me before. I actually saw it happen, so it didn't look like another bowl had just appeared, but I can see how it would seem that way if you weren't paying much attention at the time.

Nah, it's cool. Honestly, the more different perspectives I can get on this, the better.

Yeah, that's me. I wanted to raise my odds of finding answers, so I asked there and here. I'll be asking my friends for possible solutions today as well when we meet up for karaoke.

and it might be worth mentioning that about half an hour later, the noises coming from my parents' closet started up again. If I had to describe the noises, some of them sounded like a ball rolling up and down the walls and the door of the closet, and the rest sounded like things were being moved around. I wasn't brave enough to go downstairs and investigate last night, but this morning I checked out the closet and nothing seemed terribly out of place.
