Looking to shoot the shit and maybe play around with my Nomad netrunner/techie!V(alerie), and dipping my toes into the fandom. Planning to flesh out her story more on her info page, but I'm open to whatever.

Not looking to join any games at the moment, so I'm mostly just down to memes or PSLs. Ships (I prefer F/F and Judy is bae) or gen are welcome, as well as canonmates/other Vs. I also love the idea of Valerie and Vincent existing in the same universe as siblings.

In general just putting my feelers out for any potential interest. I'm pretty new to the game, though not to Cyberpunk. I actually had a 2020 campaign started back before the pandemic (you can probably hazard a guess as to how that went down), and I've seen Edgerunners quite some time ago. i was thinking the other day and i realized i haven't had one of those crazy ships that lives in my head rent-free, kicks out every other tenant and sends me into a spiral every day of my life in... a couple of literal years and that's just so tragic to me, i miss that feeling of honking my clown nose as i barely hold on to my sanity about two fictional characters.

the only things i don't fw at all by default are rpf, very barebones canons with almost no content, characters younger than at least 15, and predominantly comedic canons because i'm not funny enough to pull that off. anything else is pretty much on the table.

bringing this back from the last post because i think this anon has a good point that hits the nail on the head for a lot of the woes i see here -- and personally experience. i had to get over this idea of being the "favorite" of "my favorite" in order to continue having fun. i still struggle with this and it affects me on my lower days before i can reframe how i'm feeling and sit with the root of the feelings rather than let it affect the reason why i participate in this hobby. at the end of the day, i rp because i thrive off of the collaborative creative element. the ooc aspect is not relevant other than the degree to which it's necessary to plot and execute threads. the reasons that i'm tying my worth to being a "favorite" have nothing to do with rp and are more harmful to myself than a productive way to engage with this hobby.

Does anybody have any reliable non-DW ways of backing up LJ stuff? I tried all of the options that were listed in Denise's BlueSky thread, and none of them worked -- ljbook was a huge pain, ljarchive doesn't work anymore, etc. I know I can go through and save each post as an HTML page, but something like ljarchive that actually works would be enormously helpful, if it exists!

It makes me sad that the mermaid meme never seems to get that many threads going because I really love it :( I got some really cute/dumb threads on it back in the day. Same for a really old harvestmoon/stardew valley sort of meme that used to come around every now and then until it faded into oblivion.

Obviously there's no magic formula to succeed but what have you noticed? Or what personally puts you off from apping to a new game you might otherwise like?

i notice two things most frequently. one: it's bad timing. say game a opens its tdm but game b and established big game c, along with game d have tdms at the same time. other three games have more players in the tdm, better word of mouth. game a fails to launch

two: it's too many red flags. rushed premise, bad formatting and coding, too many problem players or players with bad reps showing interest puts others off, then the rushed tdm happens and only those problem players show up. failure to launch

other factors are the genre, how the ratio skews as far as character age and medium, vibes, etc.

I miss the nexus rp so much. Sages of Chaos was my first journal rp and despite some of the absolute literal insanity of it, the freedom and community made it so much fun. I miss that. Never found it again in games or open rp.
