Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

not whining. just mentioning that we used to have no cap on gifs until people with limited bandwidth (years ago) pointed out that it was problematic for them. so they were limited to 2 per meme. which is fair. if you're complaining about your mobile usage, that's not what the site's designed for, so maybe sort your shit and don't heap your woes and limitations on others.

no one said that. lots of memes have images only. a couple have nothing. but if someone wants to add a gif and they're the ones putting the meme up, the idea that they're crossing some invisible boundary because 'but muh mobile' is ridiculous. and insulting.

you complain when we post stuff. complain when we don't. complain about everything. do it yourself, you lazy shits.

again, i'm not the one complaining about them. i'm just confused at the idea that not wanting gifs is, quote, "trying to suck the joy out of actually making/posting memes."

because sometimes, the gif adds something to the mood of the meme. or the meme maker. one person (or ten, w/e) not wanting gifs can block them on their end. tada. no more gifs. but to make a complaint that 'i don't want gifs, because it ruins my experience' is basically blaming the person posting the meme instead of the medium that the other person is experiencing the meme through. it shifts the onus of responsibility, and that's what makes people defensive.

and as a meme poster, sometimes the gif brings me joy. so why would i avoid posting it?

Person who posted that. They make me sick. I was venting because they're inaccessible to me and I just want to be able to engage with this text based hobby without throwing up. No I don't actually think they should be banned 5ever but it is as much of an accessibility issue as tiny fonts.
