Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for fictional character role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

90s/2000s Anime Canons

Am I too old for DW RP or are all the popular 90s canons just no longer around? It seems even with the "new shiny" syndrome there were usually at least a decent showing of popular anime characters.

I've been out of the loop for a while, is there still a roll call meme somewhere?

There are still a few around - I've seen some Slayers characters around recently, for example. That said, these canons are 20-30 years old, so it's pretty reasonable that they're not common. Time marches on, anon.

I am uncertain what you mean by “roll call meme”, but perhaps the “RP WITH ME” section could help? I’ve seen folk ask if there are any canonmates there.

You have to dig a little, but I am certain you will find those old beloved fandoms. A few months back I think I saw someone asking for The Vision of Escaflowne icons.

a roll call meme is just where there are blank top levels for [insert canon/series here] and people reply to them with who they got

it tends to just be more of a "hi I'm here" instead of an "rp with me" type deal, though obviously that can happen.

i think they usually spring up on fortanon more often than not, but idk about the frequency

It's usually posted to fortanon and then linked to bakerstreet because fortanon allows anonymous comments.

and before anyone asks 'why do you need anon comments', it's for the header. i can't tell you how many times i've seen people that no one wants to touch with a ten foot pole post the 'header' for their canon and no one replies because no one wants to ping them or be replied to by them. the best solution for that was anon headers for all top levels so it's less biased or leaning any certain way.

I've seen threads with Sailor Moon, YuYu Hakusho and Dragon Ball characters in the last week. They're out there.

Be the 90s anime you want to see in the world, anon. If the canon is as popular as you think it is, getting out there with your character might encourage other people to revisit that canon.
