rpanons is an anonymous community for fictional character role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Negative CR is very tricky. Sometimes even when you do communicate oocly as clearly as you can, it can still backfire on you.

Not to say it will happen for sure, but some players do IC/OOC blur whenever IC conflict strikes with your character and theirs, so you have to be careful. It's the one thing that I've seen happen a lot in this hobby.

OOC planning as a big role in RP for a reason. The major one is it does give people an idea of who you are as a RPer. That really does matter. If I'm playing with someone who never talks to me OOC or tries to plot OOC, I'm less likely to prioritize them because I like to think things out and go over ideas with other people. Socializing IS a part of this collaborative hobby.

There are exceptions and you could get by with less, but let's face it, popularity and engagement do in fact play a role in all of this and I'm more likely to play with people I know and trust and already have chemistry with over a stranger I've never talked to OOC.

But you REALLY REALLY need OOC communication if you're going to do anything like negative CR.

I really want to write noncon (either the aggressor or the victim, no preference really although hopefully someday I'll get to write both).

The issue is that I've realized I don't think I can write it with strangers. :( There has to be some level of trust that we can discuss ideas/issues/communicate if something is wrong/not judge. I dunno.

Anyway, woe.

ive had writers block for what feels like forever but rn i rly want to backtag a thread im still interested in. problem is its been a couple years. i know im a terrible flake but here’s a question: would you be pissed if you got a tag that was years late

years late?? without ooc communication? I’d ignore it, especially if I wasn’t even playing the character anymore. months however? I’d tag back, depending on how meaty the tag is. if it’s a single one liner, ignore.

+1. it's been a loooong time since anyone used hmds like that, they fell out of fashion because no one was actually using them. ayrt's wishful thinking about wg ignores that we shittalk on plurk and discord now, that won't change.

sure you can. i haven't touched one in years in any of the games i've been in and i've never hurt for cr, and i play 99% obscure characters. just tag out, get some cr rolling, and then people will come to you when you post.

i wouldn't be pissed but i wouldn't necessarily tag it back, it would depend on if i play that character or if i'm still interested in the setting

i might pm the other person to start something new if it's good enough cr though

I'm in a similar situation. I really love writing sadomasochism (usually as the sadist, in the sense of my character causing pain, though I love both sides) but likewise, I can't write that without some level of trust and communication there because I just feel really bad after if I can't check in. I also worry about getting judged for it because it's such an intense thing, so I reserve writing it for people I know won't be judgemental. (Which, right now, is like one person.)

I hope you can find people you trust and talk to and get to RP that noncon out, anon! It's rewarding when you can get that!

and while i wouldn't be pressed about you vanishing the first time, if you reappeared after years, gave me 1 tag especially without any ooc communication, and vanished again id definitely link my friends and tell them about this weird flake who tags once per decade or w/e your speed is.
