Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. there's no wrong reason to like rp, but there *is* a wrong way to treat other people in the hobby

so long as you understand that not everyone may treat rp with the same social gravity as you do, and you don't end up actively resenting them for that disparity to the point of actively making things unpleasant for them too, you're ok. and while other people can have other reasons, you're not completely alone in your own reason either

I went through a period of time where I could tag all day and I became annoyed at how empty my inbox was. Now I have a lot of things pulling my attention irl and my inbox is constantly flooded now. So it made me shift my perspective on how fast people tag me, etc. and I often don’t notice when a thread is dropped or goes slow because I’m just trying to clear through what I have.

It does hurt when you see your favorite person boomerang tagging someone else, but these days, I don’t even have the time to see that like I used to.

I wouldn't consider myself as having hte best outside access to social circles, so I have been really stringent about reminding myself that other people do AND that it is good and healthy for them, that it's not about me etc. I picked up some other by-myself hobbies to supplement that and it's really been helping the fact that this is my only social circle, plus i've been making more initiative to tag out and incite things rather than wait for people to come to me.

like the anon above me, I basically never notice when people drop threads, and when I see my friends get excited and boomerang another thread that isn't mine, if I start to feel jealous I just remind myself that I too sometimes get on an "rp tangent" and only want to do the one thread for a while, and then I find somethign else to do and it doesn't bother me anymore.

you totally can have a healthy relationship with rp if it is your primary social outlet, you just have to be more careful than others, I think, for your own sake as much as for that of your friends

i've had to cut ties with some people because they tried to guilt me for having an irl social life and friendships and not being able to tag every single evening. don't be one of those people.
