For meme frequenters, what's your cutoff point for topleveling on a meme vs. tagging out on one? A few hours/days/weeks? Or do you go by something like how active it is

If im interpreting your question right, then for me it's popularity ig. If there are already a lot of toplevels I will try to tag out instead unless a friend asks me for a toplevel so they can tag it themselves.

oh imo if a friend is interested in doing a particular meme, it's never too old for me. I do think that once it's 3 pages back you wont get new tags from strangers, though, so it depends on what I'm doing.

This has made me think of a meme comm concept. Only 1 of each meme is posted, with a directory linking to them pinned on the front page. When it hits captcha, a new one can be posted.

'Still interested?' tags to top-levels would be expected, but they're not a hardship.

It makes a thousand variant memes on a theme actually useful, because if you really, really want to play that one scene you're craving, hey, there it is!

if my thirst is real or you play a rare muse, i'll tag into your TL even if you posted two weeks ago. might just ask if you're still open, as availability changes, but i generally assume people want play.

I'll still top-level in a meme until it's a week old. That's how long I generally keep all my bakerstreet meme tabs in a group anyway unless people are actively still top-leveling every day, in which case I keep them around until three or four full days pass without new TLs. With the way people around here get fixated on the new shiny, there doesn't seem to be much point otherwise.

For tagging out, I'll go a little longer and do two weeks, since the meme cycle for the usual ones repeats at that point, and if they're more random ones that don't get posted that often I don't know when my next chance might be to play out something very specific with a certain character.
