lol well, not sure if it's a 'i don't care about this character' thing, but I somehow had the impression that blank journals like that were just.. I don't know, throwaways that they weren't going to make any effort to commit in playing the character?

Which I guess, if they were testing the muse out, and then ended up not liking the character, they wouldn't want to waste their time making the journal pretty, I get that. When I've voice tested mine I make a very simplistic permission/info thing, and then pretty it up later if the voice sticks.

To me, it's like having sprinkles and frosting on my cupcake/cookies vs having a plain ol' cookie. The plain cookie could be just as good, but I'm automatically more interested in the one with frosting.

i shouldn't have made that comparison, I want cookies now.

I understand this logic, but I'm also not a mind-reader. If there's not even a semblance of prefs on the character's journal, skipping the first impressions, how am I supposed to know if I'm not immediately giving them a tag they'll ignore because they only wanted m/m or only wanted this or that or the other, but didn't say so?

i also understand that like, they just won't tag back if that's the case, but then that's effort wasted.

That's more than understandable, I've definitely felt discouraged when I put in the effort to make a starter and they ignore it for x/y/z reason, though I try not to take it personally. Usually only try one or two times before I mentally note to ignore them unless they tag me, move on to someone else.

ayrt for sure for sure. i wouldn't say I take it personally, but it *is* time I could have spent on someone who did actually want to tag me, and I'm a bit particular about how I spend my time.

buuuut at the same time i again try not to take it *personally* in an emotional way the first few times cos there's been times a meme thread with good friends didnt go anywhere just cos we werent feeling the same thread a day later
