This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. I'm creating a game, but there aren't any characters I currently want to play. Would it seem weird for a mod to not play a character in their game? Would your opinion about that change if the mod was playing NPCs?

i might find it weird if the game is so small it is obvious if the mod isn't playing because personally i'd pick up a character just to drum up more excitement in threads, but that's because i am very good at being active and quick at the beginning of a game.

if the game is big from the get-go, i probably wouldn't even know if the mod had a character or not.

I've had great experiences in games where the mods only had npcs - that said, most of those were plot heavy games where the presence of NPCs in the test drive and first event were signs of how the game would continue. It depends how the NPCs will help to drive engagement, especially in the early stages of the game
