Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.

i would be frank with her, but in a pp. i find that people feel more defensive or piled on when it happens in an open forum. so something like, "hey, (name), i'm sending this privately because i don't want to come across as if i'm criticizing you or opening up to public comment unless you decide to open it yourself. in terms of what you're not getting traction, feel free to ask others about this, but i feel it stems from your inability to follow through on any specific canon or character. so much so that it's become a routine pattern for you to get really excited (rightfully so) over a canon, get a character, get a good feel for them, hype yourself up for playing, test them around, but as soon as another canon comes along you're interested in, you drop everything to do with that first one. or the second. or eighth. it's hard for someone like myself to get excited about someone apping in someone that i know is going to be gone before any good cr can be established. it feels like a waste of time.

what i think this means is that either you need to rein yourself in over how much you extend yourself in the rp world in terms of picking up canons and characters, OR, maybe stick to psls or memes until you find someone that makes you want to stick. because games are full of groups of people that want to play with each other. and as much as someone might really want to play with you, they know it's going to be a fleeting thing, and it makes people less likely to want to keep trying when it's happened to them personally six times.

i'm saying this privately because i don't want to make it seem like it's okay to dogpile onto a question, but i also really don't want to make you feel bad. you're welcome to ask if this specifically is the problem people have to verify yourself, but as for myself, this is why i and a few others have a harder time getting interested in your interest checks."

i definitely was planning to bring it up privately, if i do! to be honest, no one's really inputted publicly. it's gotten to a point where her tdm/rp plurks get pretty much ignored, unfortunately. i'm contributing to the situation by not engaging her more, so i guess i have no room to judge.

it can be really hard to offer advice, because it really depends on if the person asking genuinely wants actual advice, or if they just want buttpats and pity tags. i always try the former first, and if i get a bad reaction from that or it's ignored, then i just avoid, because i'm not here to buttpat grown adults who want to use this as their dopamine fix without doing their part to contribute to someone else's dopamine fix.
