Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. anons, what is your line between "behaviour that is unpleasant that should be personally handled with a conversation or opt-out" and "behaviour that is unpleasant that is reportable to mods"?

i'd say probably try talking to them/enforcing an opt-out first depending on the level of the behavior, and if they make a huge stink about it or refuse to abide by boundaries, then take it to the mods.

if it is repeated behavior to a variety of people, though, or something like active bigotry or sexual harassment that is outside of in-character interactions, then you can probably jump straight to a mod.

mod here. i have been having a rash of people jumping to 'report to mods' about minor issues with players that they haven't even tried talking to them about, and it often escalates issues that could have been easily resolved. please try to talk to players unless active harassment is taking place.

if you simply assume the player in question will react poorly for notifying them of something that makes you uncomfortable without proof to back it up, mods cannot do anything. speak to them and if they refuse to tone it down or respect your opt-out, then you can tell your mods. it's actionable then and we can resolve it.

conversation or opt out comes first. if that doesn't work, then it's time to involve other parties. i also have a strict personal rule of not reporting anything i'm not directly involved in. if someone's being a dick to my friend, i'm not going to tell the mods. i'll corroborate if my friend asks me to, but they need to be the ones to advocate for themselves first. too many times i've been maneuvered into filling the role of bad guy/tattletale and had it bite me in the ass.

- someone who wants something from our rp that i don't is my responsibility to handle with a conversation (e.g. pushing plots, ships or cr that i don't want.)
- someone who's generally annoying on social media (takes over discord chats, constant negativity on plurk, w/e) is my responsibility to handle with a block or unfollow.
- someone who is unpleasant to play with but not breaking game rules (e.g. bad writing, kind of ooc, I don't like their ships, their character always has to be the hero) is my responsibility to handle with an opt-out.

- someone who ignores a clear no to keep pushing ships, plots or cr gets reported to the mods
- someone who responds to an unfriend/unfollow/block/opt-out by blowing up at me or demanding I justify my desire not to interact with them gets reported to the mods
- someone who is unpleasant to play with due to breaking game rules (godmoding, infomodding, etc) gets reported to the mods

- someone who harasses or behaves abusively towards me or towards others where I can see it gets reported to the mods, regardless of whether it's game related
