seems like this game has slowed down a ton and a lot of people I know are considering dropping or are otherwise having a hard time, what happened?

bad choices in hiring mods and the atmosphere of the game in general has become about nasty horror tropes that aren't actually that appealing to most players

I feel like things went really hard for September and there's a fair amount of lingering burnout from people who overextended themselves and also people whose characters ic-ly are in a bad emotional place without a clear way to climb out because the game remains unrelentingly horror oriented. Can't believe I'm saying this but I'm itching for some sol, and that's the fun I'm making for myself this month.

the game's no longer the new shiny, the new mod leadership and shift in tone have alienated some players, and there's a bit of burnout going around the playerbase. i think it's at the point where if the mods rally and reinject some enthusiasm, it'll recover, because there are some faithful and committed players. but it'll need to come from the top.

considering that the mods are among the burnt out players i somehow doubt this will happen

yeah, i think that's what it boils down to. if the mods can't recover in time, i don't believe rubi will. personally, i'm at the point where i'm okay with either outcome. it's had a good run, but i don't think the mods' hearts are in it anymore.

honestly? i love this game! i hope the playerbase gets the energy back. i'm looking forward to a new app round and i hope new players join.

Same, and I count myself amongst the tired players who have been moving real slow lately. I love the playerbase, love my threads and the vibe of the game, and I'm hoping RL will ease up enough for my RP burnout to kick it too. (Also the crop of new players we've gotten in the last few months have been great too.)

I wonder if they'll welcome the former players who tried to return and were told no back again. A few folks re-apped and got rejected while the old new mods were in control who it seemed like Tifa/Mal would've welcomed back

Hello friend anon. Tifa and Mal have been mods from the start of the game until the stepdown a few days ago.

Mod history is:
Pudding/Chai opened the game with T+M, stepped down after a couple of months.
Prox replaced them, stepped down after half a year or so.
Tenny and Pel replaced them, stepped down along with T+M a few days ago.
Koke, Mippens and Dog are taking over the game.

There has never been an app round where Tifa and Mal have not been part of the app team, so if you got rejected on reapp it probably wasn't mod related.
