Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

i wouldn't say it's UNcommon, though we don't toss them around as much as some communities. lots of people just ghost until hints are gotten. if a DNI is given, its probably not going to be public, it's going to be someone sending a PM asking to be left alone

there's a handful of people who put DNI to some notorious people in their preferences, but it's rare enough whenever it happens they get name dropped (which is stupid IMO, but it happens)

Most people here suck at communicating boundaries and would rather ghost, be PA in their tags/comments, or block as their version of DNI. Many people assume that, especially with being PA, you should get the hint that they don't want you around without saying so because they can always have plausible deniability by saying you just misread them or didn't understand them. It's a result of having unfortunately too many wankers who would throw them under the bus in anoncomms when places like wg actually had any sway on people's opinions in the past.

I have only ever had one DNI who actually told me straight and that was over a decade ago. The rest, even recently, were people who would rather be extremely PA (really annoying) or ghost/block (so much more preferable and earns more of my respect).

ime it really depends on whether you're talking about dni as a player (fairly rare) or just someone opting out of a particular character (not that uncommon at all). i've had people opt out of some of my characters who had some triggery stuff in their backstories before, but i've never had anyone give me a blanket dni as a player.

this is my experience too. i have never been hit with a dni as a player, but there is a select character of mine that sometimes get folks hitting their opt out post to ask not to be tagged.

speaking for myself, it is a huge relief when people use my opt out/dni post for this character. i respect someone who won't waste my time and be upfront that this character isn't to their tastes. the honesty is a breath of fresh air.

it's only fun if we're both/all having fun.
