Rundown: rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not post personal information. This includes but is not limited to full names, addresses, phone numbers and so on.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

The PB's actor also didn't consent to having their likeness used to portray some rando's rp character

That is different than having their likeness modified to look more like someone of another race.

just to note, but changing eye colors doesn't automatically indicate looking like another race. there are plenty of non-white groups of people that have non-brown eyes. there's whole tribes in indonesia that are have either blue or one blue, one brown with heterochromia. there's also naturally born people with that genetic trait that doesn't make them less black or asian or native american.

there's also the fact that half the time, people are attempting to make them another fantasy race, which really doesn't feel like it applies at all.

"whitewashing" as a concept isn't a thing because ie only white people have pale skin (as obviously this isn't true), whitewashing as a racist practice (particularly one that rears its ugly head a lot in fandom) makes stuff like this a little more complicated than a value neutral swapping one feature in out for another

According to op, the character's only feature that looks like "another race" is their eyes. Not everyone with blue eyes is white anon

and if op is using a native pb, then the character is going to look native regardless of whether they have brown eyes or blue eyes or color changing mood ring eyes.

+1, although this did remind me of the time Egyptian comedian Bassem Youssef successfully convinced multiple white racists at a gun shop that he was Italian because he has blue eyes and the one guy who thought he was Middle Eastern was mocked by his buddies because "they don't have blue eyes over there, Keith". Apparently some people missed this memo entirely.
