Advance warning: sorry for your eyes, the lighting for these recs is awful. Links are to bilibili because I haven't found them anywhere else.

For "PvP" scenes of characters fighting each other, Calling Soul (BD rip here: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1dq421A7XF/)
- the uploader of this rip added the script as subtitles, which is helpful if you actually want to follow the plot and not just turn your brain off
- if you don't read Japanese you can still turn your brain off and enjoy the fight scenes/eye candy, I particularly liked Imagawa Yoshimoto's acrobatic moves and the actress has nice abs
- don't go in expecting much historical accuracy, but there are broad-stroke references/injokes like Hideyoshi being really like a monkey
- fellas is it incestuous to have romantic/sexual tension with your great-great-great-etc...generational descendent
- it reminds me of early Shaman King with the whole "summoning dead spirits and fighting along them" premise, so if that's your cup you're in for a fun ride
- ends on a cliffhanger, a sequel is scheduled for end-September this year

For a mix of PvE (human[oid] characters versus nameless enemies) and PvP, try the Stage of the Queen series
- the first show, Aka no Jouou, had a rerun in 2022 with improvements in various areas compared to the initial run and is easier on the eyes overall: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV15D421j7YP/
- the shows in the series are loosely interconnected with certain recurring characters and their respective storylines, but instalments like Hoshi yo Jouou ni Otsu (which is more of a detective mystery set in 17th century France) can stand alone: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1Mj411Y7v5/
- tone of each instalment varies; there is a common thread of misery and no one has a totally happy ending, (often dark) humor is sprinkled here and there though
- if gore, illness, or body horror squick you out this might not be the canon for you
- compared to some recs upthread the drama to action ratio is higher, personal faves are the Jack vs Ann fight in Rondo and Ann's CQC scenes in Genocide

Bonus mindscrew recommendation: Houkago Senki. You'll probably find the original stage play and/or the movie if you google 放課後戦記, I'm not sure if footage exists of the rerun/spinoff plays. The play is more character-focused and the movie has flashier visuals. The plot/story are a violent mess and you'll be as confused as the protagonist for 90% of whichever version you're watching, and the 10% at the denouement contains (more) triggery content related to abuse and suicide. From what I remember of Sucker Punch you might find some similarities between that and Houkago Senki.
