rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

just to add to the weird forum rp stories, i was in a single fandom rp forum for a long time when i was a teen. i became friends with the head mods of the forum who told everyone they were two young gay guys living together in nyc. i exchanged tons of emails with them and we even sent each other care packages of snacks and treats.

after some time they confessed that they were in fact two middle aged lesbians who didn't live together and they just made up those personas for fun. at the time i was shocked but i didn't realize how weird it was (and how i had given personal details to complete strangers when i was still a minor!) until years later looking back on it. yikes.

i've been struggling a lot lately with feeling like i'm taking my rp and characters ""too seriously"" and it's like omg lol this is annoying because i'm really missing when i would just have fun and allow them to be sillier and allowed for more character exploration and not think too hard about it. idk how to break out of it and it's been bugging me, because when i "try" lately it feels very idk... shall we say tryhard and inorganic

i want to be fun and have my responses be fun for other peeps to receive yknow??

I agree yes, and I agree you can note that you aren't interested in bringing it up in thread.

My 2cents here is people might look up your character out of curiosity or even watch your canon, so the warning makes sure they aren't confused.

I’m the same way. This is what I do to exercise the atrophied muscle of being easygoing and silly. I play with people who do what I miss doing. We get CR, and I feel comfortable letting my hair down with people who appreciate it. So seek out the RP you want!

da, one time i was on a forum and a mod had a longstanding romance with another forum user, been going on for a couple of years

Many years ago in a canon I no longer play from I played Jane, a common fandom ship partner to Arthur. I met a nice Arthur through a random meme and after a year of playing together regularly we decided to go to a game. After some time in game our ship was established and while we had castmates they were kind of a revolving door since it was a huge canon that attracted a lot of fad players without staying power.

Enter Jeff, another character commonly shipped with both of our characters in fandom but whom neither of us shipped out characters with. When Jeff reached out to us we were friendly and encouraging but let them know Jane and Arthur were in an established romantic ship. Jeff said that was fine and cool.

Upon entering the game Jeff promptly revealed he was madly in love with Arthur and always would be and proceeded to spend the rest of his time in game pining and flirting despite the clearly established boundaries given to him beforehand. He was eventually told to knock it the fuck off by the moderators and was kicked out and then proceeded to spend several years stalking both Arthur's player and I and constantly shit talking us to other people.

I hope Jeff's player is having an unpleasant day out there somewhere in the universe because fuck Jeff. The most annoying part about all of it was that there were dozens of Arthurs across games and memes who were unattached and who would have been happy to give Jeff the romance of his dreams. Which may have been why he assumed the Arthur I was shipping with would ditch Jane and romance him? To this day I have no clue.

Reminds me of some of the Edward Elric players I've seen.

I'm trying to get into using Plurk for DWRP, and I don't plan on really posting anything myself not about RP, but I wasn't sure if I should tag it as such anyway.
