This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

How would people feel about someone making a Guide to DWRP that is on a journal that can be passed around with links to the things on RPAnons and other spaces? Is that even something people would want or need or do you all think RPAnons is enough?

I don't understand why some people seem so hellbent on making themselves unhappy. I promise you, you can RP without ever once looking at Wankgate and it will have exactly zero effect on you. I don't look at WG either and I'm perfectly happy not doing so.

There is nothing about WG that is essential to the RP experience and it's very easy to just avoid it.

I don't get why there's so much bemoaning about wankgate like there's a constant stream of innocent players being targeted 24/7. Chances are you and your friends will never be mentioned on there if you're not an obnoxious shitstain. All the hand-wringing and crying seems to chase players off more than actual happenings.

or maybe some people do get targeted for no reason. wg is not the arbiter of who is "toxic". one person being annoying to you does not mean they annoy everyone else or that they're even irredeemably awful, but wg being taken as fact can sure make it seem that way.

Exactly, I've been in LJ/DWRP since 2010 and if I've ever been mentioned there, it sure hasn't hurt my ability to RP one bit and I've done some pretty dumb/embarrassing stuff in my RP career. Same with my friends. The few people I know have been brought up deserved to have their bad behavior brought to light because they were treating people badly and either trying to cover it up or justify it.

Unless you're being an absolute shitheel, I can guarantee the majority of people don't care.

One of my friends felt slighted a mutual friend. Their response? To prove their point by linking me to a bunch of ancient wankgate threads about our friend being overly focused on ships.

Another friend linked me to a demeaning thread about someone else to see if they were talking about me.

Yet another friend came to me upset because someone had linked them to a triggering discussion about race.

I also had a friend completely ghost on everyone after a third party aired their drama without their permission. They were the victim, not the perpetrator.

It's only easy to ignore if you or your friends aren't getting hurt.

seriously though, there's always this argument with wg existing that "well the gossip already exists anyway". yeah, and gossip loses its teeth when it's not aired as dirty laundry like fact. it does follow people. i don't give a shit about "grudgewank is outed". it isn't always and it still follows you.

we've had this argument a hundred times about what it helps, what it hurts. but i'm tired of patting asshole edgelords on the butt for their "if you're offended, don't rp" garbage.

the burn book is shitty. we had a whole movie on why burn books going public is shitty. it scares new people away, it scares away people who didn't do anything, people who have been here for ages. a clock being right twice a day in regards to actually toxic people shouldn't be celebrated. it's still a broken clock.

since it's just been proven that the one (1) thing people insist wg needed to stay alive for (the outing of genuinely toxic people in the community) can be done here in a much more closely modded environment that will prevent the usual wg shit we all agree is bad from happening...

why are people still insisting on defending it? like you might as well just admit you want it for the entertainment(?) value, that you enjoy getting into petty, stupid arguments about nothing.

there's no reason for wg to exist outside of fulfilling the wants of dwrp's worst people, and it has a noticeably negative impact on the community overall. defending it at this point is just sad.
