I know someone else warned them she was apparently kicked from her last game. they got told, essentially, "if they become a problem we'll contact the other game for information".

Today they're encouraging her about her app, so I think I'll pass. I dealt with Harley getting away with murder in Zhautas and have friends who left Prisma due to Jamie getting equally shielded.

as a mod myself, if I were told a player was banned from a recent community and planning to app to mine, I would want to touch base with that team to verify it. if they were banned, then I'd want to know why and base a decision on that, not wait for problems to arise when they're already in my game.

anon, i don't think harley should be allowed into the game, but just telling the mods "she got kicked out of her last game" isn't going to fly. you need proof of wrongdoing if you want to report and expect something to be done about it.

No. If you want the mods of a game to preban someone, you bring the proof. If you can't be fucked to do that and expect the mods to run around checking your references, it's obviously not a serious issue and deciding to wait and see if the player actually proves to be a problem is a reasonable course of action.

are you guys so sure she got banned? she disappeared from the community, but there were people who dropped without using the drop post. and for people who did use the drop post, iirc the drops were always processed quickly. unless you're a mod or she talked about this somewhere, how is everyone so sure there was a ban? i'm wondering tbh.

if she's such a problem that you want to warn a mod about her, then you can provide deets too.

if the game that banned her is closed and the mods were anon, what are the new game's mods supposed to do? how do you contact them if they don't look at the mod journal/email anymore?

are the new mods supposed to spend the time they could be answering the faq questions and getting game info and tdms together trolling anon comms looking for threads about the person? if it's all a bunch of anons talking and no deets for hundreds of comments, that's a waste of time. you can't know how many of those anons are actually different people or if they were really involved. plus, no deets and just complaining isn't useful.

it's not unreasonable to need actual proof and to expect the person coming to complain or warn to provide it.

+1 i'm not a mod, but you know, i figure mods browse anon comms, at least rpa (where, after all, they are advertising this game to begin with), and i am sure the sudden atmosphere of omg, a wanker, the sky is falling is also pretty demoralizing to mods? i'm not saying you guys are wrong, but this sudden negativity also hurts games just like the wankers do.

i'd say this attitude is more toxic than the wankers themselves. if you have a genuine problem with someone, tell the fucking mods. even if they don't ban the player it is a MASSIVE help to them just knowing that a particular player has a reputation to look out for. that's the difference between sally shitting up the game because she got to rub her ass everywhere first and sally getting told to knock that off right away because the mods knew she had a habit of shitting on everything. if you skip the game just because sally is there you're letting her win.

ayrt and yeah, for me, it's like. maybe sally is behind closed doors stirring the powers of darkness, but for the public-facing side of the game, i'm a rando on an anon comm just seeing people being really negative about a game.

i can't believe anons who do this don't realize or maybe they just don't care that to anyone on the outside who doesn't know sally, they're the ones poisoning the game atmosphere with public negativity.

while i don't disagree some people are going to turn their noses up and never look back the second someone like jamie or harley gets their stink around the game, i will have a massive amount of respect for mods that stop this stupid pussyfooting around of "we'll ~*~wait and see~*~ for these known wankers with consistently bad, predictably shitty behavior to fuck up"

you can fix a game's negative publicity by, you know, doing some good publicity and banning known wankers out of the gate. i'll app into that game when i have faith the mods aren't going to be as complicit as the wankers they let in

who is harley? i've been in dwrp since the migration from lj and i have no idea who this is.

it's possible that the mods don't know who these people are either. you say "known wanker" like everybody who plays here knows who everybody is. but that's not true.

did whoever reported these people to the mods provide deets or just "heads up, this person was banned from a game once." because i wouldn't act on the latter and i wouldn't spend all my free time trying to play internet detective either. if you know somebody's a problem and you have proof, you need to bring that to the mods. not give warnings with no evidence and then expect mods, who are spending their time trying to get a game running, to instead shift through a bunch of anon comm posts looking for stuff.

not for nothing but if i'm a mod and i actually care about my game and my prospective player base and someone says "so and so got banned from a game" and gives me nothing else to work with i'm going to raise my eyebrows and be frustrated and take it with huge grain of salt, of course, but i'm also going do my due diligence and take five minutes out on google to see what stinks and what doesn't.

that took no effort and no time. being a mod means mitigating problem players. that is not "giving up all your free time to play internet detective" that's part of being a responsible mod.

yes it's unreasonable to expect mods to Be All Knowing which means yes players should absolutely bring forth deets when they have it

it makes way more sense to me to spend extra time sorting out problem players from the beginning to save yourself and your playerbase more grievances down the road

I know the person who reported her, they had some receipts but not all, and touched base with the prior mod team as they would have all of it. they agreed to give details to the erku mods if contacted.

Erku mods just shrugged and shot themselves in the foot.

proof isn't threads on wg of people complaining though. that circles back to my point of "you can't tell how many people are sameanoning or who's just rubbernecking and stirring shit." it gives you the knowledge that this player MIGHT be a problem to keep an eye on her or possibly talk to her ahead of time if she apps and be like "look, it's been brought to my attention that there was some problem behavior in the past. keep this out of my game or you're banned."

you need receipts: screencaps or links to plurks and pastebins. i was a mod years ago. i did preban people. because other players brought tangle evidence. some linked wg threads but others brought the receipts and those i could use.

(for the record, i read through the first link you provided and only skimmed the other two. so if there were links to pastebins and such in those, i missed them. )
