Rundown: [community profile] rpanons is an anonymous community for role-play related topics. This place serves as a forum for game discussions, canon discussions, RP solicitations (ATP, game ads, open memes), and advice. The occasional off topic comment is inevitable, but please keep heated social and political topics to their respective communities. Posting them here will only get them frozen. Subsequent threads made to bypass a freeze will then be deleted.

Rules:

Do not post pornographic or shocking images.
Do not share private entries, plurks, chat logs, etc.
Do not use this community as your social/political/hatespeech soapbox.
Do not be redundant. One page does not need three or more threads on one topic/theme. Your unfunny, forced memes also fall under this rule.
Do not treat this comm like your personal therapist. Threads about nonfictional suicide, self injury, rape, and abuse will be deleted. There are better resources out there for you.
Do not treat this comm like your personal Plurk or Twitter. Off-topic happens, but it should be open for discussion and not just a play-by-play of your life. No one cares.
Shut up about Tumblr. If it's not a discussion about Tumblr RP it will be deleted.

...what exactly did you expect them to do? unless your friend ponied up actual proof, which isn't just "well she got kicked" then i would've told them the same. they're trying to be reasonable, not instantly swing the banhammer based off hearsay. this is why no one wants to mod, y'all are impossible.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-18 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
obviously she was a problem if she got kicked out. not even caring to look further isn't "reasonable", anon

as a mod myself, if I were told a player was banned from a recent community and planning to app to mine, I would want to touch base with that team to verify it. if they were banned, then I'd want to know why and base a decision on that, not wait for problems to arise when they're already in my game.

anon, i don't think harley should be allowed into the game, but just telling the mods "she got kicked out of her last game" isn't going to fly. you need proof of wrongdoing if you want to report and expect something to be done about it.

No. If you want the mods of a game to preban someone, you bring the proof. If you can't be fucked to do that and expect the mods to run around checking your references, it's obviously not a serious issue and deciding to wait and see if the player actually proves to be a problem is a reasonable course of action.

curious:

i remember past convso were anons are encouraged to bring up the fact a problem player was banned in prev games if they (anons) had no personal interactions with the player. is that not enough anymore?

(Anonymous) 2020-05-18 08:04 am (UTC)(link)
you should always give a mod team a heads up

I've been informed about problem players and found enough verifiable deets to take action, by tapping other mod teams (who wouldn't release the same info if I were just a player)

no one's saying they shouldn't have told anyone, just that it's not always immediately actionable. it's a watch, not a warning, to put it in weather terms.

ayrt

That's never been enough for a ban unless the circumstances of the previous ban were incredibly public. It won't do any harm to mention it to the mods as a heads up, but "so-and-so was banned somewhere else" isn't an automatic "so-and-so should be banned here".

(Anonymous) 2020-05-18 08:44 am (UTC)(link)
are you guys so sure she got banned? she disappeared from the community, but there were people who dropped without using the drop post. and for people who did use the drop post, iirc the drops were always processed quickly. unless you're a mod or she talked about this somewhere, how is everyone so sure there was a ban? i'm wondering tbh.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-18 01:20 pm (UTC)(link)
several people supplied receipts of her behavior to the mods and she was out of the game shortly after

you don't need to be a rocket scientist to figure that out

or this person left because a bunch of people were causing drama about her presence

idk her or what happened or even what game you guys mean but whether she was causing shit or not, if she got wind that people were constantly reporting her to mods, its possible she ditched early before the mods could make a decision

sorry i just dont like it when dwrp anons start assuming things and calling it law without actual proof, much less wishing that new mods would take those same assumptions as proof and getting mad when they don't

tbh i was in the game in question and i have no idea about all this myself.

i'm not someone who adds everyone in a game to my plurk and maybe we just run in really different circles, but i barely noticed her or her character and no one i ever spoke with ever mentioned her in any way.

i'm not weighing in on anything, just saying as someone who was there, i don't have a clue either.

someone could decide to drop after getting a single strike

(Anonymous) 2020-05-19 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
that's nagl tho. like.... my dude...... take the L. try not to do the strikeworthy thing and keep having fun. if someone scolded you for chewing loudly at deserts whatcha gonna do? stop eating? leave the table? damn.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-19 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
i don't think the person in question is that concerned with what looks good since most complaints about their behavior center around being kind of an abrasive dickhead to others.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-19 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
if someone scolded me for "chewing loudly" i would leave the table. i dont want to sit with a bunch of pretentious dickheads. what a stupid question.

da

(Anonymous) 2020-05-19 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
god this is risking going way off topic but how the fuck is asking someone not to chew loudly, something that's rude and gross, pretentious?

Re: da

(Anonymous) 2020-05-19 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
The sort of people rude enough to chew loudly, smack, slurp, and gulp down their drinks are also entitled enough to think everyone else should have to put up with them being disgusting.

the "chewing loudly" anon

(Anonymous) 2020-05-19 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
my point was that if people started making stuff up to bitch to me about, then i would get off my ass and leave, not dawdle around while they looked for more things to be an asshole about just because i existed in their space

alternatively, if someone WAS doing that and you asked them to stop, would you really be buttmad if they left?

Re: the "chewing loudly" anon

(Anonymous) 2020-05-19 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
dude, it's not something people "look around for to bitch about" it's a very immediate and apparent annoyance.

also, no one is buttmad the person left, but leaving over being asked to stop doing something obviously inconsiderate rather than correcting the behavior IS a sign of someone no one should waste their time or energy on.

the fact anon thinks its pretentious to not consider their table manners is big yikes.

right there with you, anon.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-18 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
if she's such a problem that you want to warn a mod about her, then you can provide deets too.

if the game that banned her is closed and the mods were anon, what are the new game's mods supposed to do? how do you contact them if they don't look at the mod journal/email anymore?

are the new mods supposed to spend the time they could be answering the faq questions and getting game info and tdms together trolling anon comms looking for threads about the person? if it's all a bunch of anons talking and no deets for hundreds of comments, that's a waste of time. you can't know how many of those anons are actually different people or if they were really involved. plus, no deets and just complaining isn't useful.

it's not unreasonable to need actual proof and to expect the person coming to complain or warn to provide it.
